Good news for @EastMidRailway customers as EMR Connect services will be able to run at a higher speed of 110mph on parts of the route between London St Pancras and Bedford in the coming months.
Since the upgrade of Midland Mainline South of Bedford was completed last weekend, allowing electric trains to travel at 125mph (up from 100mph), here's a brief fly-through of a small section.

Faster journeys on @TfL Metropolitan line services as Finchley Road to Wembley Park and Preston Road switched to automatic train operation. Trains top speed increased to 100 km/h - 62 mph - and faster acceleration cutting journey times by at least 1 to 2 min in each direction.

The faster speeds between Becontree and Upminster reduces the overall running time by over a minute. Passenger are unlikely to benefit fully until a new timetable is introduced in May because trains arrive earlier at each station and have to wait longer to depart on time.

Rail fares debate - Speed or Price? - walk on fares Milan to Bologna (think London to Brum or Norwich) single ticket- appx 125 miles - £41 on a 186mph high speed train taking just over one hour or £14.35 on a slower regional stopping service taking nearer 3 hrs. Choices!!

Any thoughts on the news that the UK's latest @HitachiRailENG train fleet run by @GWRHelp @LNER @TPExpressTrains @LumoTravel is to no longer run at a maximum speed of 125mph. All trains within the Class 800/801/802 fleet are to be fitted with a speed limiter of 200 km/h.
