Told @AFP that:
A. the US-Iran deal amounts to nothing less than a political and security catastrophe for the State of Israel
B. Beyond leaving the nuclear question unresolved, the result of the conflict makes it unlikely that any future US president would risk renewed military action against Iran.
C. At the end of the day, Iran is becoming stronger, and Israel has no ability to influence the US president's decisions.
D. It's a very, very, very bad development for Israel, and for Netanyahu specifically, who was, "Mr. Iran," given Netanyahu's long history of antagonism with the Islamic republic.
E. "Mr Iran" is stuck with a deal that covers almost none of the issues that are important to Israel.

1 Based on VP Vance’s comments today it appears the Trump administration’s goal is not to negotiate merely a nuclear deal with Iran, but a grand bargain to transform the US-Iran relationship. No US administration since 1979 has achieved this goal.

Trump tried this exact playbook with North Korea: sanctions relief + glittering economic promises (hotels on great beaches!) for denuclearization.
Kim took the photo-ops, gave nothing permanent, and kept the nukes.
Same script won’t work with Iran. Regimes that bet their survival on nukes + ideology don’t trade them for a $300B rebuild fund. They pocket the cash and keep building bombs. History rhymes.

The Memorandum of Misunderstanding between the US and Iran:
The US believes Iran will restore the Strait of Hormuz as a secure international waterway, make significant nuclear concessions, and potentially abandon its revolutionary ideology--including its opposition to the US and Israel and support for regional proxies--in exchange for major investment from the same Gulf countries that have just been on the receiving end of thousands of Iranian missiles and drones.
The Islamic Republic of Iran believes it will continue to control the Strait of Hormuz, receive tens of billions of dollars in upfront sanctions relief and unfrozen assets, make no concessions on missiles, drones, or proxies, while potentially offering to suspend uranium enrichment for the period of time they need to reconstitute their bombed nuclear facilities.

The real danger hidden in the agreement with Iran
Ironically, it seems Netanyahu may yet miss the days of confrontation with Obama.
If the agreement is indeed signed, Jerusalem will find itself facing a new reality forced upon it, and this time, the tools it once had to change the harsh decree are no longer available.
