As part of our post-incident recovery efforts, MEXC’s $RIO reserves have been migrated from the Algorand network to Ethereum (ERC-20) on a 1:1 basis. The corresponding ERC-20 $RIO can be verified on-chain via Etherscan: etherscan.io/token/0x94a8b4E… We’ll continue to share updates through official Realio channels as we complete additional recovery steps.

$RIO is currently being incorrectly flagged as a “malicious token” by security partners. $RIO is the official token of @realio_network, with our protocol audited by @Nethermind. We’re requesting that this inaccurate warning be removed. @MetaMask @Uniswap @blockaid_ please review and update the classification. Screenshot below for reference.

Important update regarding the August 25 security incident on app.realio.fund: As most of you already know, the “Realio Platform” (app.realio.fund) was maliciously exploited by an individual or group of individuals who gained access to the private keys of user wallets, as well as private keys to $RIO bridge reserves on Stellar and Algorand. The full extent of the incident is well documented independently by the community here for reference: realiostats.com/incident IMPORTANT: The Realio Network blockchain was NOT hacked or exploited. Validators, as a group, agreed to halt the chain as a precaution to prevent stolen funds from moving further. Freehold (app.freehold.finance) and Districts (app.districts.xyz) were not affected, and no users of either platform lost funds. The incident was limited to the legacy realio.fund webapp (app.realio.fund), which was already planned for deprecation. Unauthorized access to the system resulted in the malicious theft of private keys associated with user wallets and bridge reserves on Stellar and Algorand. All bridge routes between all chains hosting the asset $RIO were halted immediately. As previously announced, the $RIO asset on Algorand and Stellar will be completely deprecated, and all existing tokens on these chains will never reenter the circulating supply of $RIO. Users who were staking $RIO on the native network via app.realio.fund did not lose any staked tokens, as the 7-day unbonding period prevented theft before the network halt. We approximate $500K in digital assets were successfully cashed out by the attacker on various DEX markets while some funds were sent to MEXC, Kucoin, Binance nested service routes, among others. Some funds were converted into USDC and USDT. We have communicated our tracking of these transactions and deposits to all above-listed companies, as well as the FBI, which is now investigating the incident. We have documented the timeline, affected wallet addresses, transaction hashes, and asset movements across multiple networks. The identified activity involving MEXC and KuCoin resulted in the temporary freezing of attacker-controlled accounts involved. We've also reached out to additional exchanges to flag the accounts. We are now working with the FBI to identify the individual responsible and assist with recovery of stolen assets. We are providing detailed transaction data and supporting evidence to the appropriate parties. We have developed a plan to restart the network that involves freezing all stolen coins that were bridged by the attacker to the native network, as well as preserving all staked coins for users who had private keys stolen. We hope to restart the network very soon, if all validators agree. Finally, all users who had accounts on app.realio.fund will have the opportunity to create claims of all lost assets by creating a new account on app.freehold.finance and completing full KYC. The claims dashboard will be live soon, and we will announce when it is available. We expect to fully recover all $RIO tokens stolen by the attacker.

Last night, the realio.fund webapp fell victim to an attack. Access to the platform has been halted, and no more funds are moving in or out of user wallets. This report, created by an independent community member, provides a detailed summary of the event: realiostats.com/incident. The team is working on a recovery plan and verification of the incident details. Please do not purchase $RIO on Algorand or Stellar; the bridges to these chains will remain closed indefinitely. Freehold and Districts are not impacted by this. Please do not use the realio.fund webapp anymore; Freehold is the only wallet we are actively maintaining going forward. We have identified deposits by the attacker into both @MEXC and @kucoincom and are in contact with them. The market impact on $RIO was limited, and the attacker was not able to sell much before everything was frozen. We believe CEXs can safely begin enabling deposits/withdrawals on BNB Chain again. We will work with law enforcement to identify the attacker.
