Buying a truck is only the first problem. Waste trucks have to run daily. NBS data puts diesel in Lagos at ₦131.47/litre in June 2015. By January 2026, it was ₦1,560.82/litre. Every 1,000 litres of diesel that cost around ₦131,000 then cost around ₦1.56m now. That is an almost 12-times increase before you even discuss maintenance, tyres or spare parts.

Poured into privately owned grid? Only 2.1 trn has been released for the coastal road so far
I keep saying it: the money being poured into the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway could have gone into rebuilding Nigeria’s electricity grid. Fixing power would transform homes, businesses and industries nationwide. Our priorities are completely backwards.

You will allocate 300k barrel and tell IOC what? Thank you for service. These guys are losing it with this subsidy return gymnastics. It is not adding up. No too ways about it , revenue will shrink. FAAC will go down and state and local government will get far less if subsidy of any form is returned. And we will be back to the era of state not being able to pay salary.

New projects across the North Central🤗 For years, these roads were a nightmare for motorists and commuters. Today, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is changing that story through the Renewed Hope Agenda, delivering roads that connect communities and open up opportunities. A big credit to @officialABAT for the vision and to Works Minister @realdavidumahi for the hands-on delivery. Renewed Hope is visible. Renewed Hope is working. @AbiodunEssiet

The Gift and the Burden of Leadership. As someone who has spent a lifetime studying politics, leadership, development, and the rise and fall of nations, I have come to appreciate that transformational leaders are rarely understood in the moment. They are often resisted before they are respected and doubted before they are celebrated. That is why I remain convinced that we are following a man who is truly a gift to Nigeria. What many see today as difficult reforms are, in fact, the laying of foundations for a productive nation capable of carrying not only its own weight but inspiring an entire continent. Development has patterns. The world has seen it before. Japan led the “Flying Geese” model that transformed Asia from a region of limited industrial capacity into a global production powerhouse. One economy took the lead, others followed, and prosperity spread across borders. China later accelerated that process and today stands as proof of what deliberate national planning can achieve. Africa awaits its own moment. I believe Nigeria is positioned to become that lead nation, and President @officialABAT understands this responsibility. The reforms are not merely about balancing accounts or correcting distortions; they are about preparing Nigeria to become the engine room of African growth, production, innovation, and opportunity. When Nigeria succeeds, Africa benefits. When Nigeria expands its productive capacity, attracts investment, builds infrastructure, strengthens institutions, and unlocks the creativity of its people, neighbouring nations will inevitably align themselves to the opportunities created by our progress. That is why this moment matters. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not asking Nigerians to manage decline; he is challenging us to build greatness. The journey is demanding, but the destination is worth the sacrifice. If Nigeria succeeds on this path, history will accord him immense respect—not because he sought applause, but because he had the courage to do what was necessary when it mattered most. The prosperity we seek is not a fantasy. It is on the horizon. Our duty is to stay the course. Otunba Segun Showunmi The Alternative.

Repeat enough lies so many times and the average neutral person would believe it If you ask them to point to the “yacht” now and tell us when it was procured and budgeted for They will start babbling
We don’t have money for subsidies. We don’t have money for education. We don’t have money for a good healthcare system. We don’t have money for good infrastructure. We don’t have money for a living wage. We don’t have money to motivate and properly equip our security forces. What, then, do we have money for? We have money for Senate allocations. We have money to build a VP official residence. We have money for the President’s yacht. We have money for embezzlement.

Good question What happened to the kidnappers?
What happened to the kidnappers? Dem collect ransom or dem no collect? This news is not complete. Something must happen to the kidnappers. Else, the money you pay them will be used in kidnapping other victims and the vicious cycle continues.
