How is criticizing Menin for failing to explicitly call out the Islamophobia spewed by two of her openly bigoted City Council allies, instead referring to their bigotry as “politics,” “Jew Hate”? This is nuts, even for you, and cheapens serious claims of antisemitism.

I’m proud to have joined with my colleagues Rep. Nadler, Speaker Menin, and Councilmember Brewer to pressure City Hall release of these files, and I applaud the Mayor for taking this long-overdue step.
These documents confirm what we’ve known for a long time: the air at Ground Zero was unsafe to breathe, and those in power ignored the danger.
Now the survivors, first responders, and victims’ families can begin to find closure, and hopefully the World Trade Center Health Program — which we were recently able to fully fund — can learn more about what has caused so many 9/11-related illnesses.
Honoring our commitment to Never Forget requires that we continue to fight for these communities every day.

The release of these files is an act of justice for victims of 9/11 health-related illnesses. While we can never reverse the harm caused by the toxins that heroes and civilians breathed in at Ground Zero and in surrounding areas, victims and the public deserve this transparency. Local and federal officials failed our community by lying about the dangers, and now their betrayal is public for the world to see.

The Mamdani controversies (this list of homeowners, excluding Jewish lawyers from a list) weren't fights he was looking to pick. City Hall is missing some normal, hacky political radar to flag what's about to cause a controversy, and allows the mayor to pick battles.
