Why do they have lights? The only reason our aircraft have lights is to warn others that they are there so they ding crash into them. And landing lights so the airports have another visual of their progress. Not so they can light their way ahead, as with a car. If your gonna travel through the emptiness of space who are you warning? Why are you warning them if you don't know who you are alerting to your presence. And when you get to your intended destination, an alien planet at war, why would you attract their attention? PS if you had the tech for intergalactic travel wouldn't your chosen vessel be much more advanced than that of a 1970s UFO movie like Close Encounters of the Third Kind, who operated from a limited budget so used flashing lights as their wow factor?
