Just so everyone knows, these are the states - including Massachusetts - that had one of their gun laws overturned today.

Has anyone considered just putting stronger laws on the books and ignoring this ruling completely? Like, you know, anti-choice states all over the country are doing.

I'd rather see this broken down by city or by population density. Chicago is not the same as the rest of Illinois, and upstate New York isn't the same as NYC.

Also, cops no longer need to read you your Miranda rights. And border agents can now harass you for any reason they want. Starting to sound more and more like Russia? Can we shoot Border agents for harassing us? I'll have to get back to you on that one.

So let's pass laws restricting the right to carry ammunition in public in Massachusetts without a special permit. Let them shoot pebbles from their flintlocks and muskets if they want to open carry in our state.

A sad day for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Praying our citizens have enough common sense and morals to be the Patriots we truly are! ☮️💟🇺🇸💙🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊

I fixed your graph by removing suicides. The "good states" are actually middle of the pack.

In the states on the right half, are many of the crimes committed by owners who are legally concealed carrying?

They were all illegally infringing on our rights. Glory hallelujah for the ruling today.

2/3rds of “gun deaths” are suicides. Instead of misleading bullshit, try a graph of only gun homicides

It was declared unconstitutional, like it was.

These are gun deaths, which include suicides. If we're worried about homicides, then these states don't have the lowest rates of homicide.

Do you have any recent data? This looks to be from 2009

Militarisation of society is a pre-requisite for its takeover.

However, they do acknowledge that some "perceived threats, such as disruptive cultural change or immigration, could embolden far right political movements while also broadening their appeal". Seem to me this describes the USA quite well. See @JYSexton

Now break it down by how the gun was used - homicide vs suicide. The homicide data is all anyone should be looking at. But even then, it’s erroneous. Bc the property of potential danger is not a reason to make something illegal.

Do those states also have something in common in regard to socioeconomics?

This data is old (all pre-2012), but generally still holds. Oh and CA's firearm death rate is much lower now, interestnig. Source: cdc.gov/nchs/pressroom/sosma…

Let's take out the suicides, make it about all the homicide, take data from 2020 instead of 2009 and would you look at that? No correlation.

Congratulations, New York. SCOTUS just increase your chances of being shot. And the ruling comes from nine Americans entitled to security details to protect them from the guns they just unleashed. Ironic.

Shame the right to bear arms doesnt mean a musket, as they were the 'arms' when the constitution was written....now it is just perverse.

The same Supreme Court that believes they deserve and need more protection than ordinary citizens. Tone deaf, self-indulgent and 100% wrong.

They didn't have their laws overturned, they have to give peasants the same access to self defense as celebrities and ruling class bureaucrats. Why are those terms unacceptable?

Just for the sake of comparison, could we pull suicides out of the chart so that we’re just looking at crimes? I’d be curious to see whether that impacts the rankings.
