Thank you, President Biden. Thank you for getting us out of the trauma of the pandemic, for an infrastructure bill that the country hadn’t seen in 50 years. Thank you for bringing manufacturing back to America and for prioritizing things like lower prescription drug prices so, at the very least, seniors and children wouldn’t suffer as much from insurance greed. Thank you for fighting for our veterans with the PACT act so those who were injured in war could get the healthcare they need. Thank you for looking out for the climate with the Inflation Reduction Act, and raising the budget of the IRS so they might finally have the resources to go after the very richest who refuse to pay their taxes. Thank you for acknowledging that gun violence is a real problem and opening an office of gun violence prevention, passing the strongest safety laws this country has seen in years. Thank you for trying to give us paid family leave and affordable college and free Pre-K, and for cutting childhood poverty in half. I’m sorry the Republicans congressional members made it impossible. Thank you for trying to pass laws to stop corporations from gouging us, and stopping corporations from continuing to hit us with their endless fees. Thank you for bringing America’s name out of the mud, for shoring up NATO, and protecting democracy around the world. Thank you for your wisdom, and kindness, and ability to think past your own legacy to consider what was best for your people. Thank you for choosing a female VP and a person of color, and for passing the baton to her with such grace. Thank you for seeing women as leaders and for fighting for our rights and humanity. Thank you for acknowledging that the ERA deserves to be an amendment, and that women should be seen as equal and valued members of this nation. I’m sorry so much of what you’ve done will be undone by what comes after you. I’m sorry our country wasn’t strong enough to hold on to our democracy. I promise those of us who still believe in truth and justice will continue to fight for what’s right.
