Spending 10k to feminize my face has probably been the best decision I have ever made in my life. My only regret is that I didn't do this years ago when I could have. It is a far superior method for feminization compared to just estrogen

Note that these are averages. With surgery, you can get to a gigapassoid level fairly easily if you are lucky

Tomorrow we are re-opening the Pro $200 subscriptions to new subscribers, but together with it we are also changing how we calculate the usage for it. In effect, if you do the math, it will net out at half the dollar in API spend compared to the old Pro $200 plan.
Now that it's said, let me explain why this is happening and why you will still get more work done than if you were on the Pro $200 subscription one month ago.
(a) We didn't want to compromise in other ways and are committing to not reintroducing the 5h limit, so that you can fully use the weekly usage when you want.
(b) On the subscription, we guarantee that over time you always get more work done and with an increasing level of quality. This means that you will continue to get more value per dollar spent as a result of models getting more efficient and us passing down the improvements in the form of API price reductions.
(c) We don't want to put an incentive on ourselves to artificially inflate the API list prices to make it look like you are getting a lot (and workaround it through discounts, etc). Instead we want to continue to both rapidly reduce prices and increase capabilities of models on the API. This week we introduced GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna at 50% of their previous price. Over time, we see prices go low enough that it makes sense for most to buy usage as needed without there being a significant gap between what you get in a subscription and what you get in the API for a dollar spent.
(d) Tomorrow, we are adding more things to the subscription that won't draw on the usage, I won't reveal what that is yet.
I wanted to be transparent before all the big announcements tomorrow. Lots of new exciting things are coming to the subscriptions that will make it super compelling, but I wanted to make sure to share this change ahead of time so you can all understand it before we shower you with good news.

A paradox in pro-AI rhetoric is that they want to tout the idea of massive productivity benefits (not just random slop) but deny massive labor market disruptions, when I don't think it's possible to have one without the other.

The thing I hate about poly circles is that as a woman it feels inescapable that I am seen and treated as a sex object.
When I work with more professional industries, I can be an ice queen, and the relationship stays professional. When I'm in tech, at least I can say "I'm taken" and we keep the focus on the tech.
In settings where everyone's poly, suddenly, I am unable to work 1:1 with a man on anything without things feeling a little slimy, and the greater social vibes start feeling cruising mixed with a Hobbesian all-against-all of female intrasexual competition.
Like, I was talking about game theory, why am I suddenly receiving a shoulder massage I didn't ask for?
Reminded of this passage from Allan Bloom's Closing of the American Mind, and Plato's Republic about the necessity of modesty for women's participation in public life.

I did this analysis, only based on 42 meetings, but still interesting that majority of Democrats that we met with support Pause-style regulations (based on our volunteer's reporting), and Republicans are evenly split across support/oppose/neutral.

Interesting volunteer-reported data from our latest PauseCon: AI pause appears to be a bipartisan issue.
Caveat that this is from a small sample of 42 Congressional Office meetings.
66% of Democratic offices and 38% of Republican offices were supportive of Pause-style AI regulation. This is based on feedback from our volunteers, who met with their Congressional Offices on September 14th and 15th.
31% of Republicans and 28% of Democrats were neutral.
31% of Republicans and 7% of Democrats were opposed.
Democrat responses were consistent across the House and Senate, but the Republicans were a different story.
In the Senate, a 57% majority supported Pause-like regulation, and 43% opposed, with zero neutrals.
In the House, a 67% majority of Republicans were neutral, with the rest evenly divided in support and oppose.
This was a small sample, but the story from this data is that Republicans are roughly evenly split across Support, Neutral, and Oppose, whereas Democrats have a Support supermajority. The Senate appears to be more AI risk aware than the House.
This is specifically for Pause-style AI regulation, so we assume that the support for any regulation overall is higher.

This is also my observation - and I think it's an aspect of why there is a recurring accusation that EA orgs "target vulnerable people"
If you are filtering people on whether they can easily walk away from the rest of their lives, then many of those people will be vulnerable!
I’m not sure the details are right but IMO EA org hiring processes often do adversely select for people who don’t have high opportunity cost
