One thing I’ve noticed, especially with the vetbro crowd, but many others too, is a severe hatred for Africa, and anywhere else. Now I’m an expat in South Africa, so I get the “shut up you’re African” a lot. It’s stupid, and let me tell you why 1/6

The world is globalized whether you like it or not. The minerals used in your phone come from countries all across the world. American companies sell products to countries all across the world. We don’t live in isolation 2/6

We ideally want every country to prosper as that means more money for people to spend on buying products from companies from our country. It means more trade, and more money to be invested in startups etc. It’s just good for everyone. 3/6

Now America is currently in another semi-cold-war, this time with China. We need allies, because when minerals are needed, or access to ports, they provide them. So treating Africa and others like “shitholes” just makes them go and partner with China. 4/6

That isolates America, and it makes it much harder for America to work with global countries to combat terrorism, and to deter China. It makes it harder for American companies to do business in Africa, whilst Chinese companies prosper. 5/6

It’s just stupid, and it’s not in line with what America is meant to be. I love America, and truly believe in it, and part of it was a country that helped the world, and stood up for everyone as the leader of the free world. Hating every country that isn’t as wealthy is sad 6/6
