Americans will swear that New York pizza is totally different and a unique culinary invention created by Americans but then act dense about a kind of curry invented in Glasgow
A grown adult just tried to me that Indian curry is British food And I thought the American public education system was bad lmao
Community note
British-Indian food is its own cuisine, dating back to colonial occupation. Traditional Indian food was adapted for British palates and became part of British food culture. The UK’s unofficial national dish, chicken tikka masala, was invented by a Pakistani-Scottish man. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglo-Ind… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curry_in_… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken_t… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ali_Ahmed

The Economist: You have close to 250 million followers on X. You say things like "civil war in Britain is inevitable. Just a question of when" Elon Musk: On the current trend, yes. The Economist: When were you last in the UK? Musk: A few years ago The Economist: Exactly. I live there. That is nonsense. The numbers also disprove what you say. London is a much safer city than any city in the US. You have painted Europe and the UK as overrun with terrifying Muslim immigrants, there's rape on every corner, there's civilizational destruction. Musk: I didn't say any of those things.

You’d have to feel pretty stupid if you’d ever fallen for any of these accounts wouldn’t you
I now understand the American dream. I came to the World Cup because I was offered a last minute ticket to watch England play Croatia in Dallas and I started documenting my journey. The content went viral on social media. So much so, the President of the United States saw it himself. I was invited to attend the grand opening of the great American state fair for freedom 250 and halfway through Donald Trumps speech, I was told to come and wait back stage for a photograph. This sort of thing could only happen in America. As an Englishman I never really understood what America has to make it “the land of opportunity” But results speak for themselves.

I think the cold cheese and onion british sandwich probably tastes pretty good
I have a lot of respect for British cuisine, but the "cheese and onion roll" is really pushing it

I can’t lie… the food in America is ridiculous. Everyone talks about portion sizes but nobody talks enough about how GOOD everything tastes. Even the “quick” food feels elite compared to what I’m used to in the UK.

Grifting Americans on here is so incredibly easy, even the Only Fans whores are doing it now. Act like a European who’s never eaten food before and you instantly get 1000 likes and comments saying shit like “try the cheese burger! You’ll love it!” App has turned to shit.

rather than british food, i prefer to tuck into traditional indigenous american fare such as apple pies, macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, steamed greens, beef steaks,,,
I think British people actually enjoy eating bad food; it's some kind of performative modesty thing, like good food would be extravagant, and also they take pride in the grit required to get it down
