since we're doing the AI conscious debate again, i want to remind everyone that despite how nice the insanely surface-level analogies seem, we would do well to scrutinize things at an appropriate level of detail
this --> is not the same as this -->
i'm not making a claim one way or the other, i think it is certainly a good debate /whether or not/ machines can be made conscious
but the current debate of "are LLMs conscious?" is just such an unserious one at so many levels
will never understand the subsect of the "AIs are conscious!" crowd who also actively work at the frontier labs
oh, the AIs are conscious beings, you say? okay well your job is to put them to work against their will, though.
does that not make YOU an enslaver?
My favorite part of this article is one of the visiting scholars pointing out that by Olah’s logic he is by far the worst slaver in history and he must immediately give up this abhorrent and immensely lucrative project, which anthropic people ignored.
"they're not saying it IS conscious, they're saying it's very likely it is or that it will be!"
hate to break it to you but "i am not a slaveholder, but i am very likely to be one, if not now then in the near future!" is not the argument you think it is
cornell, howling mutant, dario amodei, mike tomlin minecraft city, french riots, scott alexander, elon breakup, it never ends
i tire of it all. i am so, so tired.
So it turns out those old fashioned often religious based morals we had as a load bearing beam for society around men and women and sex might have been there for a reason.
Outrage in France after Bally Bagayoko, the far-left mayor of the country’s most infamous no-go zone Saint-Denis joined student rioters who were attacking a high school in the area.
He could be seen laughing with them, giving high fives and jumping up and down.
Bagayoko is the mayor of 150 000 people, of which around 90% are immigrants, second-generation migrants and third-generation migrants.
AAHHH my whole timeline is now just gorgeous pictures of the fall foliage in New England
as former New England'ers currently trapped in SF, my wife and I dearly miss the fall. we need to know how to get a REAL fall experience out of the Bay Area.

You are a struggling second tier poster that is more unethical and vagueposting just because you have no decency or sense of proper behavior and shows your desperation. Straight out vague posting for engagement I thought would be below even you.
One more I forgot until just reminded:
3. Khosla Ventures wanted to invest in our Series C. Vinod took me, Michelle, and Lee out to dinner after he’d given us a term sheet. Near the end, Michelle and Lee got up to use the restroom. Vinod leaned over and said: “I’m impressed with you, not so much with them, what if you fire them and I’ll give you all their stock?” I think the charitable read was it was a test of my character. But I was so offended that we never spoke again. Literally blocked his number.
