Today @wayve_ai and @MercedesBenz are announcing a global strategic partnership! Through this definitive production agreement, we’ll bring our AI Driver to future Mercedes-Benz vehicles starting in the next two years. This is the world's first integration of the Wayve AI Driver in the premium segment and is the third production deal we’ve announced for consumer cars in the last 9 months. It builds on Mercedes’ strategic investment in our Series D and years of technical collaboration between our teams. Mercedes is an iconic company with a strong reputation for automotive innovation and engineering excellence - they built the world's first car in 1886! To understand where Runway is going, you need to understand two things: 1. Soon everything you see on a screen, and eventually everything a robot sees, will likely be generated on the fly by a model. The frontier is already moving from generating code, language, and content to generating worlds. This is an expansive frontier. 2. If you believe this, you play an infinite game, and that requires a different strategy than a finite one. An underappreciated part of building a company is that the game horizon you choose attracts a distinct kind of person to work on a distinct type of problem.

Today we’re announcing we’ve raised $20M in seed financing led by @QuietCapital , with participation from @GradientVC , @haystackvc and @CompoundVC and other amazing folks to build the verification layer for AI-driven biology. We are also delighted to be welcoming @vqctran who is joining us from @GoogleDeepMind as a co-founder. AI is not going to cure all diseases without a verification substrate - a scalable environment where models can test predictions and learn against living human biology. AI is becoming increasingly capable of generating biological hypotheses, therapeutic candidates and experimental designs. But generating ideas is advancing much faster than our ability to test what those ideas will actually do in human biology. Existing systems force a tradeoff: the most biologically relevant approaches are slow and expensive, while faster in vitro and computational systems often lack the fidelity needed to capture human response. Polyphron’s bet is that tissue is the fastest, cheapest, most parallelizable verification substrate that still contains the biology that matters and we believe the path to biological superintelligence runs through closed-loop interaction with these living and simulated human systems. Thank you to @axios for covering the announcement. Link to our new website in the thread.

We're hosting a research day in SF. You should come if you're building a data factory of some kind.
Data sales is one of the most important areas in AI today. It matters both for improved model performance, realizing true AI world models and especially for deeptech startups that now have a new monetization path. However, the best way to build companies and durable revenue streams around data sales in deeptech areas is largely unsolved outside of Mercor and Scale. We @CompoundVC have a very clear thesis for what platform <> data sales alignment looks like in biotech. Namely that companies shouldn't go significantly off their core path to sell data to frontier labs. We also believe that only biologically complex and general platforms make sense as data providers in the long term. This thesis is only one part of the puzzle. There's a whole world of materials, energy, health, and robotics that are still figuring out durable sales too that we want to discuss in depth. At this Compound Research Day on Data Factories we will have several deeptech companies (including in bio!) showcase their data generation platforms, specifically focusing on data novelty and scale for model training. Operators at frontier and neolabs will also be in attendance and speak. Join us to discuss one of the most consequential areas in AI! (We're still building out the speaker list so let us know if you'd like to present.)

We are sharing a major update to our General World Models efforts. GWM Worlds 2 can generate full, interactive, real-time video simulations in one continuous 720p stream at 24 fps and audio at 48000 Hz, responding to your inputs as you explore. It is the first world model that generalizes to arbitrary actions rather than a fixed set of actions or just navigation. Dynamic actions are what actually matter for building gaming and interactive experiences, and for training agents in these simulations. We also introduced WorldPrompt, a way to tell GWM-2 that a world can be split into two kinds of state: what persists and what changes over time. For example: persistent gravity, physics, and light, alongside actions that describe movement, gestures, object interactions, speech, and sound.
Today, we're sharing new research on GWM Worlds 2. Our latest General World Model that generates interactive real-time simulations in continuous 720p video at 24 fps with 48000 Hz audio. Built on top of our foundational audio-visual generation model, GWM Worlds 2 allows you to define the environment, subjects, visual style, physical rules and ambience of any world. Once inside, you steer it with text actions addressed to any subject or to the scene itself, alongside continuous camera motion. The world continues from each new input instead of following a fixed clip or script so sessions have no preset length. GWM Worlds 2 creates a new foundation for interactive entertainment, virtual characters, robotics and embodied-agent simulation. Learn more about GWM Worlds 2 at the link below.

Congratulations team. So excited for the world to understand themselves better and act on it. Pre order below
Everything begins inside your brain. Every thought. Every decision. Every experience. And yet the organ responsible for all of it, the physical instrument shaping how you think, react, connect and recover, has remained invisible for as long as humans have existed. Today, that changes. The Atlas 1.0 is here. Pre-order now.

Interfaces that are generated, not coded. Excited to finally share Solaris. Video is the universal interface. Eventually, all UI will be chat and gestures in, chat and video out. Solaris opens new ways to build websites, apps and other interfaces. And most importantly, it gives new ways to train agents in much more dynamic environments.
Interfaces that are generated, not coded. Solaris is our first step toward our vision of end-to-end neural software, where user interfaces are streamed directly onto your screen by a real-time video model, without any intermediate code or HTML/CSS. Today we're releasing a technical report and opening it up for limited testing by the community. Amazing work by the team, combining the best of our research in general world models with Runway's HCI spirit.

The consensus in venture rn is that you should buy winners even when they're expensive, because winners keep winning and this cycle's winners will be bigger than ever. While this is arguably true at growth, @mhdempsey argues it definitely doesn't work at seed At growth, the data backs it. Coatue's "10x paradox": 8% of unicorns become decacorns, 13% of decacorns reach $100B, and 31% of centacorns hit $1T. The odds of 10x-ing actually improve with size. At that scale, paying up for quality makes sense, and it's the logic firms like Thrive are built on Michael's case is that seed is a different game, because the compounding advantages that make winners keep winning don't exist yet. There's nothing to pay up for. The data shows this, as loss ratios on expensive seeds aren't meaningfully different from cheap ones, and everything above the bottom quartile of valuations produces roughly the same distribution of outcomes. At seed, the premium buys legibility (how impressive the team looks on paper), and legibility doesn't correlate with terminal outcomes His own 2 biggest winners, Runway (three design grads from NYU he DM'd on Twitter) and Wayve (a robotics PhD he cold-emailed, both up 100x+ since) wouldn't be considered legible even today.
New Emerging Managers episode with @mhdempsey of Compound! Many GPs like to talk about being contrarian. Almost none can stomach the real cost: years of looking wrong and watching everyone around you get (paper)rich on stuff you passed on. Michael is the rare exception, and he has the receipts: He did the Runway and Wayve seed rounds in 2018, before anyone was talking about generative AI. Both up 100x+ since. He raised a fund in '21 and barely deployed for 2 years while everyone piled into the top. His latest funds sat out most of the AI gold rush for biotech and material science. Most recently, he raised a liquid fund to run the same playbook in public markets While most VCs compete to win allocations into the best companies in the hottest sectors (i.e. playing momentum games), Compound sidesteps this entirely. Instead, they spend their time trying to predict the future: diving deep on the research across a range of topics, publishing long-form theses, and then backing the founders who either fit their thesis or break it in a smart way We get into everything from why momentum investing ends badly in venture, why ChatGPT killed Compound's original edge and what replaced it, and what he's bullish and bearish on in publics. Enjoy! piped.video/watch?v=jZ9r3_By…

"We are heartbroken by the passing of Oren Frank, the co-founder of @Talkspace. It is difficult to fully comprehend this loss. Oren was a person of extraordinary character, with a generous heart and a spirit of giving that seemed endless. In every interaction, it was clear how profoundly he cared about helping people through the pioneering of Talkspace. Oren was a true visionary and pioneer. In the early days of Talkspace, he and Roni set out to challenge the way mental health care was delivered, long before digital therapy became widely accepted. What began as a bold and unconventional idea, making therapy more accessible, affordable, and stigma-free grew into the world’s largest platform that transformed how millions of people seek support. His creativity, courage, and relentless belief in the power of human connection through innovation shaped Talkspace from its earliest concept into a groundbreaking company it is today. He was not only a founder, but a driving force of imagination and purpose, constantly pushing boundaries and rethinking what mental health care could look like in a modern world. We grieve alongside his loved ones and send our deepest love and heartfelt support to his wife, Roni, and their daughters, Mia and Shelly. His memory, his vision, and the impact of his work will always be a blessing to us all." @CompoundVC

Pandroid is the first robot of many siblings that I want to exist in our lives in the present and future. And the models powering many Pandroids in the future will be able to learn scalably, rapidly, and continuously. All brought to you by the amazing @pantographPBC team.
We set out to collect 10M hours of on-embodiment data as a starting point for robotics models, but couldn’t find a robot reliable enough at a price that made it possible. So, we built one. Meet Pandroid: an accessible hardware platform for AI. Small enough to safely experiment with, durable enough to run in fleets. Connect it to any model or coding agent over SSH to let it interact with the world. Join the waitlist:
