Whenever there's "discourse" about accessibility, or when someone speaks from an ableist perspective, as an advocate, you're expected to respond. I just can't anymore. At least not to EVERY discourse. I have to protect my peace. Otherwise, my mental and empathetic capacity would diminish.
I'm saying this because I just saw three things on my timeline that I could easily jump in and advocate for or against and my mind is already feeling burnt out. I think that's the misconception about being an advocate: you're expected to do it 24/7. But 10 years in, I'm sorry, something has to stop.
