Everyone talks about slop cannons, where’s the slurp cannon discussion?

Slurping pasta. Get your mind out of the gutter.

Salty’s incredible work is what convinces me to dig in to those performances optimizations and ruthlessly push toward efficiency in my own work. This is stellar stuff Salty! ❤️

"Oh, it's raining in London today, sir. Would you like to rent an umbrella for £4?" I already fell for that trick with EC2. I'm good!

So per @thsottiaux here’s today’s significant improvement for mantle which uses a ZippyDB like metadata engine: github.com/hyper-light/mantl… 2.3-2.4x RocksDB’s seek throughput, half its p50, a third its p99, 3.1-3.2x GET, 1.2-1.3x FILL.

TIL during chaos testing you can totally use after free Mac’s NFS server and make the kernel panic (please don’t make the kernel panic)!

github.com/hyper-light/mantl… I’m not joking. ☺️

You're joking, but using 7 skills to split things up into PRDs and milestones and whatnot will not lead to better results.

I don’t mind taking time to build things. Especially when they beat the competition.

Gippidy write Meta’s TectonicFS as a single Rust binary but make it storage aware and single-laptop scale friendly as well and btw clone and improve RocksDB make no mistakes.

we hired contractors for our first harvest at the farm this year i havent touched the tractor once since im too busy but the farm humbles you in ways youll never experience in a white collar environment you finally make something with your hands step back and think “i built this” i guess were just visual creatures at the end of the day because it honestly feels so rewarding everyone needs one thing in their life that isnt code imo

TIL you can bypass Codex desktop’s terminal restriction and remote control multiple Claude sessions by using their messaging over /tmp/cc-sock, which is neat!

Cc @thsottiaux - this may or may not be intended behavior.

FYI - I also like Rust! I also like Python! I also like Typescript! I also like Java! Different languages for different things! More room to build cool stuff!

At some point y’all need to realize that randomly going after and randomly mouthing off to people (like Mitchell, who is lovely) is going to do you more harm than the good the 0.5sec of dopamine gave you for the cheap shot.

I’m incredibly confused why suddenly a bunch of OMP people are coming out and are attacking me. I think OMP is great but my perception is dramatically changing due to the social interactions. Ghostty doesn’t compete with what you’re doing. I want you to succeed. My responses to this are in the interest of intellectual curiosity and honesty. I want libghostty to enable as many things (including agentic harnesses and IDEs) as possible and I’d just like to make that good. This isn’t a fight. This is just my interest in the engineering community working together to make everything around us better if possible. But for sone reason it’s become some immature name calling exercise? I’m so confused lol. I just want to see and read the code (of the harness) so we can make everything better. What you’re doing doesn’t have to be or get worse. Everyone can win.

If any company wants someone as maximally unhinged as possible I volunteer as tribute.
This season of devrel for the industry as a whole is just sucky! Everyone being fake af and posting like they’re the COO of the company

I am so cooked (I’m not funny and I dislike my natural voice).
I need to shake my public facing friends at AI companies (devrels, posters, etc) and beg them to start using their natural voice more and stop performing like it's the zirp years, it's a red flag and you're painting yourself into a corner. be inquisitive and curious and funny

I’m going to make a microvm of t3os.
Replying to @theo
I'll give some hints: - t3os is not for humans - t3os is entirely composed of tech decisions I hate but agents prefer - t3os is headless and meant to be installed on "personal servers" - t3os will not have an iso - t3os is largely ubuntu based and if that upsets you then t3os is not for you - you should not install t3os on a computer you use

So GPT Sol 6.1 is pretty dang good at review. Mixed on the code quality (5.6 was still more my flavor), but also wicked fast at it. Computer use remains unmatched.

Go’s handling is largely cloud/service oriented. For things where exploding is incredibly costly (ETCd/Kubernetes/HA servers/cloud infra stuff), returning errors as values and being forced to handle them makes a lot of sense! Mathematically elegant? No. Solves its domain? Yep!
Sorry G, but calling Go “beautifully designed” is a immediate unfollow for me. We just have too different of perspectives on what that means. Math is beautiful. Go’s error handling is the least mathy thing ever in programming.

Also sometimes you do want to explode! CLI tooling is usually best when it explodes or at least errors loudly. Operating systems are a bit of a mix but there’s times where exploding is absolutely the better option than recover.

The choice between explode and recover is problem dependent!
