"wonder how many people think that they repressed their childhood due to trauma but actually just forgot because it was 15 years ago" uhhh actually, the difference between those both scenarios is too obvious to be ignored to make a post like this that could trigger many people +

it was also made to sue clinicians that worked with survivors and accuse them of making ppl believe they experienced shit that never happened. it's probably why there's so little research and access to professional resources. many clinicians still doubt DID's existence.

pro tip for systems trying to heal: the secret to recovery is just absolute radical empathy for all parts of yourself all parts are valid even if they're not helpful, chances are they're just scared of something. be patient with urself. it ain't easy but it gets the job done.

Ok so like how to do that

tbh a lot of that is getting to know each other and just like. being curious and non-judgmental. learning the "why" often helps build empathy even if u disagree on how to handle particular things. then working on compromises where possible. building trust is important too.

okay so i'm never gonna heal got it. i can't bring myself to like or care about most of these bastards, probably because subconsciously i hate them due to them all just being versions of Me

if i keep explaining im gonna start doing too much and so all i will say is MOON SPIRAL HEART ATTACK!!! (if parts of you struggle with empathy it is okay just start small or getting to be neutral, healing is always possible even if it doesn't feel like it)

ok one last thought. i watched sailor moon a ton growing up and i rly feel like it helped me with my ability to offer unlimited empathy and love towards others and parts of myself. the adults in my life would tell me that this is stupid, but imo it's the most valuable skill.

i think that more often than not the urge to pathologize others and their behaviors so heavily comes from a desire to blame an individual and the traits of the individual for a broader, more systemic issue contributing to these failures to connect.

yes 100%, and also redirecting shame that initially was put on them by someone else. shaming and pathologizing has just become such a culturally normal thing to do that literally only leads to further pain and suffering. the elitist in our heads if u will

no bad parts was alright but did get kinda weirdly spiritual. not a big fan of the self energy stuff bc i barely understand it but otherwise it's a pretty good read

i have an account i used for YEARS and i never get any interaction but atp i just use it to repost stuff to save for myself. if i tweet here i forget about it if no one interacts with it so i can't be upset if i don't remember 👍

but i also low-key use this as a somewhat public journal because my brain worms have been resistant to private journaling or part tracking. the possibility of interaction helps me do it at all for whatever reason.

one thing im weirdly proud of is my spice tolerance. i come from a super white ass family but have been able to gradually increase my spice tolerance higher than the majority of ppl. i do not look like someone that can handle high spice but i do and i LOVE it

very true, it just takes a slightly different shape w dissociation. it's a harder journey and you're more likely to have parts trying to convince you that they're actually evil or whatever else that gets very existential but is wholly believed. but i do believe in it for everyone

suicidal parts are usually just exhausted and overwhelmed. hierarchical parts are usually tired of having to do their jobs. if you understand why parts feel the way they do, and can extend them empathy, you effectively offer yourself the unconditional love that you're missing.

Tbh empathy is my problem here i can accept my headmates i'm even friends with a few but i have trouble trying to resonate or even care about how they're feeling but this applies to myself too i just can't really care all that much about my own problems

lack of empathy is usually a stress response to keep you safe from others and/or their emotions. it could be that if/when you feel safer you might have more capacity for that.

oh ya i did watch buddy btw, i liked it more than i thought i would. wasn't as bad as i thought but the movie went an entirely different direction than anticipated for me i thought most of it would be the kids realizing buddy's evil slowly but it all went pretty fast lol
