FOIAs show that agencies appear to have made no progress on the Strategic Reserve, including establishing agency authority on transferring digital assets to the alleged Reserve.
Our FOIA on agency asset holdings meant to have been reported to the Treasury in April 2025 has remained unanswered since January of this year.
Additionally, the Trump administration appears to lump in seized – not forfeited – coins into its strategic reserve accounting that must be returned to victims, as our previous reporting has shown.
No public record of a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve exists.
