Muslim activists in Birmingham have released a video condemning British comedian John Cleese ahead of his visit to perform in the city.
The activists accuse Cleese of promoting anti-Muslim and anti-Islam views, pointing to a series of controversial comments he has made about Islam and Muslims on X.
In March, Cleese claimed that the Qur’an’s teaching was “ALL about acquiring power, killing ‘infidels’ and imposing Islam on everyone”, while arguing that Britain’s Christian tradition was superior.
Cleese has rejected accusations of Islamophobia, describing himself instead as “Islamosceptic”.
He is due to perform at Birmingham Town Hall on September 20 as part of his John Cleese and the Holy Grail tour, which is visiting 18 venues across England.
Several of the cities on the tour, including Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and Bedford, are home to substantial Muslim communities.
