Sadly, our country will only go backwards while a liar holds the highest office in the land. How many lies is this PM permitted before his position is terminal? It’s wrong. It’s embarrassing. And it’s damaging Australia and her people. #auspol #nswpol
The Prime Minister lied again yesterday. He stood up in the Parliament and said that his $6 million grant to Marrickville Golf Club wasn’t invitation-only, when it was. Just like he stood up in the Parliament and said the grant was to fix sewerage, when it wasn’t. And when he promised not to change Capital Gains Tax and Negative Gearing, but he did in the Budget. And when he said “we’ve dealt with inflation” but it’s still too high, and rising. Like when he promised Australians a $275 cut to their power bills, yet Australians’ electricity bills are soaring. And like when he promised you “cheaper mortgages” yet we’ve had 16 interest rate rises under Labor, and possibly a 17th one on Tuesday. It’s one thing for this Prime Minister to mislead the Parliament over his Marrickville mess, it’s another thing for him to look Australians in the eye and tell them lies about the state of the economy. Australians are all paying the price for this Prime Minister’s problem with the truth.

Labor’s admitted they got it wrong on their coffee cup legislation. This could have been avoided if they’d listened to the Liberals and Nationals in the first place and accepted our sensible amendments to their new laws. We’ll keep fighting for small and family businesses.

Labor’s addiction to spending is driving up the cost of everything. Households are having to tighten their belts because the Government refuses to tighten its belt. The Coalition has already identified $31 billion in savings over four years to fund our tax cuts three times over. This proves substantial savings can be found without touching essential services like schools, hospitals, and aged care places. Less government waste means lower taxes, lower inflation, and lower interest rates. That’s the economic management Australia needs.

A win for common sense. Finally. After I raised my concerns yesterday about the words “women” and “mother” being removed from State Parliament’s breastfeeding policy , the Premier has agreed to have them returned to all policies relating to breastfeeding. #nswpol

I’ve never met Helen Haines but tonight Helen and her loved ones are very much in my thoughts and prayers. I’m shocked and saddened by an alleged attack on a public figure going about their service.

What message does this send? Activist jumps a wall to be on the floor of NSW Parliament, stands among MPs yelling, throws material around, interrupts it all, has to be restrained & marched out. No charges, no consequences. Soft. Weak. Wrong. I’m over it. #nswpol #auspol
A climate activist from the group Rising Tide breached security at New South Wales Parliament by jumping from the public gallery onto the chamber floor during question time, attempting to confront Premier Chris Minns.

Spot on here @cjoye - politician induced inflation is the problem.
@cjoye on the underlying forces keeping inflation elevated in Australia. In this episode of Straight Talk, I sit down with economist Chris Joye for round five, a frank conversation about government spending, immigration, productivity and Australia’s economic future. Chris argues that Australia’s challenges run deeper than events in the Middle East. He examines what he describes as $660 billion in additional government debt since 2022, the pressure population growth is placing on housing and infrastructure, and an expanding public service alongside declining private sector productivity. He also questions the Reserve Bank’s “narrow path” strategy, whether political influence has shaped its approach to inflation, and the cost to Australian households. I then ask Chris what needs to change: how to rein in spending, lift productivity and get Australia’s economy back on track.

Nobody likes card surcharges, but Anthony Albanese is trying to pretend a cost disappears simply because you can't see it on the receipt anymore. Australians aren't mugs. A cafe still has to pay to process your card. If that cost isn't on the receipt, it has to be absorbed or built into the price. You can't abolish a cost with a social media post. The Prime Minister told Australians this would save them money every time they tap. Now, on day one, businesses are warning prices will rise. That's the problem with Labor's cost-of-living spin. We've always said the right approach is to drive down the underlying cost of payments and give consumers clear prices. Simply shifting costs around the economy doesn't make families better off. Anthony Albanese keeps confusing hiding costs with lowering costs. After four years of a cost-of-living crisis, Australians know the difference. If the Prime Minister really wants to bring prices down, he should start with the biggest cost Australians are facing: a government that has lost control of spending, inflation and the economy.

Today’s rate rise takes the cash rate to 4.60%, its highest level in 15 years. Families have tightened their belts but Anthony Albanese hasn’t. Australians are paying the price for the government's higher spending which is fuelling inflation and higher interest rates. Life has only got harder under Labor. The Coalition will fix the economy. We will axe Labor’s toxic taxes, put a speed limit on spending and lower taxes.

Australians are suffering the biggest fall in living standards in the developed world. Power bills are up. Fuel is up. Unemployment is rising. Families are paying more than $30,000 extra a year on their mortgage. And where is the Prime Minister? In New York collecting an award for himself. Only the Coalition has a plan to fix the economy and protect our way of life.

How should we lower inflation? With interest rates rises that force families to cut their spending or should government cut their spending instead?

Pressure from the Coalition has forced Labor to scrap its arbitrary cap on allied health services for veterans and their families. I want to thank the veterans, their families and the veterans’ organisations who stood strong, gave voice to their concerns and stared this government down. There are more than half-a-million veterans in this country. Australians who have served in conflicts from the Second World War through to Afghanistan. They’ve served, suffered and sacrificed for their fellow Australians. We owe them a debt that can never be repaid. The last thing any government should do is force our veterans to pay-up for the treatment they need because of their service. Labor’s cruel cap says everything about this government’s warped priorities. Labor puts Australians second. We will always put Australians first.

In exactly six months there will be an election in NSW and therefore in Willoughby. 🗳️ I’m grateful and excited to be standing for Willoughby again as the local Liberal Candidate. 🙏 There’s a lot more to do for our area and I hope I can earn the support of locals to continue to be their voice in the NSW Parliament. 🗣️ I’ll have a lot more to say about what’s at stake in this election in the weeks and months to come. ✋ Here’s a short clip that outlines a bit about my approach and just some of the issues I’m standing on. 🎥 As always, I’d be grateful for your feedback, ideas and support. 💡 See you on the campaign trail - a big and busy six months ahead! 💯 #workingforwilloughby #willoughby #community #willoughbyvotes #nswpol

The government growing spending well above the potential growth rate of the economy is the core of the problem. The RBA must respond, no matter how fruitlessly, to inflation if they are to retain a shred of credibility. But the inflation problem can only be fixed fundamentally with a 5-10% cut in the size of recurrent government spending over the next 5-10years. And that is all levels of government. It should have started in May. This is an uncomfortable reality very few people in this country are willing to accept. But just like the late 1980s, I fear we will be forced to learn the hard way. There is no free lunch. The piper will be paid. Economic fantasy may help people physiologically deal with the world around them. But it is not leadership. And it certainly won’t guide our community through this in the least painful way.
