Nearly $27,000 a year for family health insurance premiums, up from $6,000 in 1999. And that’s before deductibles, copays, and surprise bills. The system is fundamentally broken.

Posting about making money from oil at the same time there is an ongoing search and rescue operation for downed pilots in Iran is beyond despicable.

Too bad no one could have seen this coming. Took a little longer than I expected.

Now wait until it gets back up over $110 in the coming days, when people realize this is far from over

Not smart enough to know he is admitting that Iran owns the price of oil. Iran risk is not priced in.

One of the largest oil terminals in the world is completely up in flames, and the markets are like "meh". As @SamanthaLaDuc would say, Iran risk is not priced in.
Massive fires continue to burn into the night at the Port of Salalah in Oman, with the blaze caused by Wednesday’s drone attack against the port by Iran having now spread to most if not all oil tanks at the MINA Petroleum Facility.

Walter about to get the FTC investigating him, if he keeps sharing facts like this.
WHO REALLY PAYS FOR U.S. TARIFFS? - NY FED In 2025, U.S. tariffs soared from 2.6% to 13%, but nearly 90% of the cost hit American consumers and businesses—not foreign exporters. Sharp hikes on Chinese goods in April and May pushed importers toward Mexico and Vietnam, but most exporters didn’t lower prices, passing the burden straight to U.S. buyers. By year’s end, import prices for tariffed goods were up 11%, forcing firms to shift supply chains and leaving Americans footing the bill.

I know I sound ridiculous to the crackpots who have been shouting for years at how nothing can be trusted (and I try very hard not to feed those trolls in order to preserve some measure of utility on this app), but that's why I'm a little (a lot?) uneasy with where I see the debate on this among people for whom I have great respect: If people who are comfortable with measurement error when it understates inflation because they believe the "true" number is lower, those same people sacrifice the standing to object when others dismiss data that overstates something they believe is exaggerated. The value of official statistics is that we commit to the methodology before we see the results. I'm less worried about this particular number than about the principle. Once we accept "the measured number is wrong, but it's wrong in the right direction," we've opened a door that's very hard to close. Everyone has an alternative data source they trust more than official statistics on some question. The whole point of institutionalized measurement is that we're bound by the results even when we don't like them. If we only defer to official data when it confirms our priors, we're just doing vibes with extra steps.
