Hacktoberfest 2026 - is done. Amazing projects won. Thanks to all the participants, mentors & jury. It was quite a challenge to choose top 3 from 85(!) total teams/projects. P.S. The first image is already late nighter after prizes, where most of the people are already gone.

trained a 3.5mb model that finds names, addresses, emails and phones in any text, right in your browser. no transformer, just a tiny dilated cnn over character n-grams with int8 weights, written in rust and compiled to wasm.

Someone just dropped the radial menu converter and got 19M view after Opie launch, meanwhile Opie is swizz knife of radial menu, it has quick actions, apple script, can be launcher and have custom integration to your apps while it got barely 10k view But it is how life works, we are still learning and improving

I wanted voice dictation on macOS to feel instant and native, and I built Talkify an 8.2 MB macOS dictation app with 123 ms median release-to-text latency. It was the fastest of five apps tested ahead of superwhisper, voiceink, wispr flow and macwhisper. It lives in your notch and have beautiful shader animations and different kind of customizations. Talkify is built on top of Apple’s SpeechAnalyzer using system-managed speech models to transcribe audio entirely on-device, its free and open source. usetalkify.app github.com/tornikegomareli/T…
