I've processed so many referrals for aggressive/violent autistic girls. The big guys with tiny moms just make for more shocking viral content, which is why you see them more. Fathers are usually absent from high needs autism content because, well, they leave.

If you want to take a feminist hammer to high needs autism topics, "men abandon their special needs children at alarming rates, often leaving their mothers at risk of physical harm" is right there.

True for the sorts of people who wind up on Reels but there are also many good dads with autistic children and I am aware of a couple families where the mother is the one who left

horrible comments under that video. the responses to the original post going all "autism is not an excuse" are all a direct result of autism being made into some sort of character quirk in online spaces. this shit has to stop. it's making people genuinely old-school ableist.

"Autism is not an excuse" is for people like me, who have insight, some understanding of self-regulation, and the cognitive ability to work on ourselves. This is absent in a lot of nonverbal, high needs autistics.

Like part of the reason you don’t see it is because nobody wants to admit they got tackled by their daughter half their size.

Nobody talks about the biting. A lot of autistic kids bite as toddlers because they don't have the words for "stop touching me - I'm overwhelmed!" yet. But occasionally this continues until they have their permanent teeth, at which point it becomes dangerous.

also not to mention autistic girls are SEVERELY under diagnosed

It's getting better in the younger groups due to new diagnostic surveys getting standardized in pediatrics, but we're still not where we need to be.

It's really upsetting to see an adolescent/adult-diagnosed high-functioning autistic denigrate non-verbal high-needs autistics in the interest of their grievance politics. Dropping aspergers as a separate diagnosis was such a counterproductive thing to do

My father left when I was 4 and everyone at school said it was my fault

the idea many people in their heads have about how autistic boys are inheritly brainless agressors and autistic girls are inherintly calm and dainty needs to stop, autistic girls can also have complex needs and have violent meltdowns

I used to work with autistic children and yes, fathers are constantly absent! There’s absolutely a conversation that can be had about patriarchy and autism with fathers needing to help more with their high needs children, but attacking the child makes no sense at all.

honestly, as an autistic person, i think there's a special place in hell for parents that use their autistic child for "viral social media content". Imo it should be considered child exploitation.

i think its also just boy moms are weird on social media and autism moms are double weird creating this type content

as a guy who used to autistically hit my parents and doesn't anymore like. my mum would hug me and talk to me and try to calm me down and my dad would yell and hit me back! didn't change my behaviour but you're not gonna post the latter online

People just pretend that female violence either doesn't exist or is as inconsequential as a kitten playfighting.

My brother went to a disabled needs school and so many of the kids there came from broken homes or stuck in foster care, it was rly sad. some of them were basically only kept around by their parents for the NDIS payments :(

When I was in group therapy, I knew a woman with a daughter my age who had autism. One of the things this woman often talked about was how violent her daughter was towards her.

There's like 5% of feminists on this site whose most deep fundamental sincerely held belief at the core of everything they do is not "neurodivergent men are subhuman"
