A Man Is A Man
I do not like this new idea,
I do not like this gender queer.
Would you, could you, change a he
Into a she, by sheer decree?
I would not, could not, not one bit.
A man’s a man, that’s all of it.
Not with a dress, not with a wig,
Not with red lipstick on a pig.
Not with a shot, not with a knife,
Not even with a willing wife.
I will not say a boy’s a girl.
I do not care how well he twirls.
I will not call him “she” or “her”
When giant hooves are screaming “sir”.
Would you, could you, in your den
Pretend a rooster’s now a hen?
Not in the school, not in the store,
Not on the sports field anymore.
Not in the law, not in the press—
A man’s a man, my case I rest.
