We’re excited to announce Muutassim Mukhtar (@triplemcoderr), Senior Site Reliability Engineer at MTN (@MTNNG), as a speaker at SysConf 2026! His talk is titled “Performance Engineering Beyond Dashboards.” As part of Muutassim’s work at MTN, he has to find, understand and fix reliability and performance bugs in production Kubernetes workloads. And in multiple cases, he’s found metrics and dashboards insufficient. This talk is about how an SRE has used eBPF to profile production workloads, uncovering CPU hotspots, scheduling delays and network bottlenecks. #SysConf #SysConf26

reliability at scale is brutally hard. folks complain about mtn services, but keeping systems alive for 100M+ users is a different engineering problem entirely I am hoping to see bamboo release in the postmortem

this is the kind of cpp abstraction my eyes loved to see. no need to replace the C API, just give the resource deterministic ownership and cleanup semantics…

imo, in C++, managing resources like this (including std::scope_exit, gsl::finally) is a code smell. If every resource is managed by a class, leaks are not possible. Using a scope_exit utility is a step away from that My code review comment would be “why not make a File class?”

strace nearly had me crashing a production server today 😭 its incredibly useful, but its tracing model is clearly showing its age. it relies heavily on ptrace. that stop -> inspect -> resume cycle is powerful
