I would like to recommend @AdamRusch and @Bitcows for this mandate, both have been engaging in several meetings to improve the organization. There are many good candidates this round.

Cardano scaling is not one magic switch. Hydra, Leios and Peras are solving different problems: local throughput, input endorsement, and faster settlement. Next challenge is packaging that so normal users feel it. Which one shows up in UX first? I haven't seen much!

Nine years ago, Cardano's first block was minted. Since then: 2,890 stake pools. 13,978,119 blocks. 123,982,111 transactions. A constitution, ratified on-chain. 36,322 votes on 158 governance actions. And a vibrant community behind all of it. Here's to many more years. 🎂

Connecting Cardano with the future of global payments. The Cardano Foundation has joined Mastercard’s Crypto Partner Program. As part of its Blockchains track, we’ll engage with Mastercard and other participants working across payments and stablecoins on areas including cross-border money movement, B2B transactions and settlement. Another step toward connecting public blockchain infrastructure with the way money moves globally.

Many DReps have already joined the DRep Council. Soon we will submit the first document to vote on. We will also elect board members. You can join at any time!

The Update Constitutional Committee governance action has been ratified, clearing the 67% DRep and 51% SPO thresholds. The new Committee is seated. This is on-chain governance working as designed. Thank you to every DRep and SPO who voted.

Cardano has never had a shortage of talented builders. What it's lacked is a bridge from that talent to Silicon Valley networks, mentorship, and capital. That's the gap the Genesis program is built to close, and this week, we watched the first cohort pitch on stage after four weeks of building, testing, and rewriting their ideas. Thirteen teams, spanning AI, payments, DeFi, infrastructure, and consumer, some brand new to Cardano and some who've been building here for years. Great judging panel including @TimDraper, @Andytang, @samizb, Aleeha Banerjee from our investment team, and Stephen Wood from @Cardano_CF. It was amazing to see Orion Fund come to life in person alongside the builders. Every part of Orion came together: @Cometa_Labs providing technical mentorship and growth support, our very own @DraperDragon investment team mentoring and advising founders, and @draper_u making it all possible. Best of all, this is only the beginning. Our investment and growth teams will continue working with these founders well beyond Demo Day, with many more cohorts to come across all stages this year and next. 🚨This is alarming - With great conserns, i am seeing public cardano community members calling to strip away the option for SPOs to vote on Governance Actions, or to change a default behavior to make it easier for Governance Actions to pass without SPO interaction. Some are saying that SPOs don't wanna vote at all - WTF? SPOs are the only one of the three entities (CC, DReps, SPOs) that are currently forced to vote with there holy grail Pool Cold Keys. Which is a frustrating process to do on an airgapped "cold" machine. Compared to a CC or DRep Hot-Key that can live in a LightWallet if you want. SPOs vote when it counts, SPOs do not vote just for fun or so on InfoActions that do not need an SPO vote at all. Accusing them that they are "Lazy Voters" or that they "Dont wanna vote" is more than alarming to me. --------- Let me be straight, there are only 4 different Governance Actions that require the vote from SPOs: HardForkInitiation, Security-Critical Protocol Parameter Changes, NewCommittee and NoConfidence. Last one never happend on Mainnet (thank god). There were only 2 Hardforks so far - since we introduced governance - that required an SPO vote, both were obviosly greenlit. (see the screenshot below) There were only 4 NewCommittee(UpdateCommittee) actions so far. Three were greenlit by SPOs, one was rejected, same one was also rejected by DReps. (see the screenshot below) There were only 2 ParameterChange(Update) actions so far that required SPO voting. The first one (inc. Transaction and BlockMemoryUnits) was greenlit by SPOs and DReps. The second one is a current one (red. minPoolCost and inc. PlutusMemoryLimits), which looks like will be rejected by SPOs. Could be greenlit by DReps by a marginal value above 67%. Sits at 66.7% by the time of posting, but lets say it will be greenlit by DReps. --------- So, out of ALL the Governance Actions so far that required a vote by SPOs, there is currently only ONE action, that is rejected by SPOs and greenlit by DReps! ONE! And now voices are coming out and calling to strip away SPO voting power from governance actions or change ledger behavior to make it easier for actions to pass without SPO voting interaction! Because that one action will not pass and those voices don't like that fact. Are you f*cking kidding me????? This is how governance works! --------- There is a solution on the horizon that would make it way much easier for SPOs to vote more often on like f.e. InfoActions - even if they don't have to. Its called CIP-175. It introduces Hot Voting Keys also for SPOs, to close this gap and "disadvantage" against CC and DRep Voting Keys. We need this to be integrated within one of the next HardForks, sooner than later! So i am calling every SPOs, every DRep and of course the CC members to support this CIP-175 and to push it forward to a higher priority. Last week, Brazil's largest company @Petrobras opened its headquarters to Cardano. It was the first stop of Cardano on the Road, our initiative bringing academia, industry, and government together across Latin America. With some of Brazil’s largest institutions in the room, this was a meaningful step towards modernizing Brazil’s industry with the power of Cardano.
