the more i wake up, read the latest on ai, politics, etc. the more i feel the urge to go completely off-grid and raise my kid as if we were living in the 90s.

If I had made less effort, I probably would have made more money. A sobering realisation I came to after spending some time thinking about the last few years. I had burnt myself, trying to put 200% into everything. I took too long to release things because I cared about the quality. I am aware that I can be somewhat 'Quixotic' at times. Meanwhile, I watched things I did not understand succeed spectacularly and assumed there must be something I was missing. So as a person that prefers only to speak from experience, I tried to understand. I bought into collections I did not immediately understand. Traded memes. Followed the metas. Tried to learn and understand rather than dismiss things simply because they did not immediately make sense to me. Eventually the cognitive dissonance became too much. I do not think I am particularly built for making money at any cost. I don't mean that as a kind of virtue thing, rather that I am simply not aligned with a lot of what that requires... And somewhere beneath the endless gamification, I feel I have lost track of what web3 was supposed to be about. I still think this space could be vibrant and sustainable. I still think there are extraordinary people here. I am just no longer convinced that the loudest voices are the best ones (for me). And for the first time in a while, I genuinely am not sure where to go from here. Regardless, there will always be the art.

We've been getting a lot of questions lately about how the Internet Archive digitizes books. The short answer: page by page, by hand. You may remember our viral 2021 video of Eliza Zhang scanning a book. That's still how we do it. Meet Eliza, and learn how we scan books: blog.archive.org/2021/02/09/…

To everyone, thanks for the amazing years. It seems that the fxhash platform has come to a close. The artwork, however, lives on. The lack of communication around the wind-down is regrettable. To clarify and provide some closure: The entire fxhash team was let go in February, except for the founder. Currently, there appears to be no attempt being made to close on the loan offered to the company (the loan was previously mentioned in a post by ciphrd). Therefore, no current or future development is being planned. The website is now offline, and it is unclear whether it will come back. To all the people who made fxhash possible: artists, collectors, team members, enthusiasts, supporters, partners...in short, EVERYONE who took part in the special happening that was fxhash...THANK YOU! We shared so much together and had a truly wild code-based ride. Thankfully, @verse_works @lerandomart @objktcom are supporting the viewing & exchange of artworks published on fxhash. Mega props to them for staying true to the mission through difficult times. And former fxhash front-end developer @maerzhase3000 has developed a framework for keeping fxhash artwork available without relying on fxhash infrastructure: whitehash.m3000.io It's too bad things ended like this. But between the monumental trove of artwork that formed a unique creative movement and the friends we made along the way, some might say we lived it to the fullest. The discord community is indeed still online and active if you're looking for a place to hang and talk about the good ol' days.
