Telling high IQ white men with college degrees to go to trade school to get some certificate to perform an extremely physically gruelling mediocre job with an income ceiling of 100k that would also bore the shit out of them and squander their talent, is such a demeaning insulting attempt to manage down their expectations when you should be expelling foreigners undercutting & muscling them out of the domestic labor market. Why does anyone on the ostensible right persist in this scummy behaviour? Isnβt it bad enough that the left does it?
Btw some of the "realism" I disagree with is:
The population explosion. That has not been borne out. Perhaps 200 years from now the population may exceed current levels, but it would need to rebound.
The diversity. People do not simply form a multiculture on their own.
The thing that is teased in the very beginning and revealed towards the end of season 1 seems a bit less hard sci-fi than I would like but we'll see. It's good that it mostly thinks about realism although I disagree with a lot of the conclusions. Still interesting premises.
They do ALMOST, KIND OF imply some new cultures are based on mostly older ones, like how there's Hindi spoken on Ceres plus they all sound kinda South African.
Frontiersman martial (literally) culture and they don't have ANY White MALES in their military featured there? It was already a stretch to have an Asian female admiral in season 1, but at least that doesn't have to physically fight.
