Her experience of taking temporary jobs cannot be used to accuse today’s young people, facing scarce entry-level vacancies, insecure hours, unaffordable rents, ill health and far fewer routes into Europe, of laziness. Anecdotes from a privileged starting point are no substitute for a serious plan to create decent opportunities.

I wish people would stop calling these masked men in the streets ‘protestors’. They’re thugs. Masked men, lots with prior convictions for a string of crimes, many against women, intimidating people, attacking emergency workers and abusing people.
