Gold minersโ earnings surge but valuations lag: Sprott
Gold producers arenโt getting full credit from investors for stronger profits and tighter spending discipline, Sprott Asset Management says.
The NYSE Arca Gold Miners Index traded at 5.7 times expected operating earnings at Sept. 30, about 22% below its roughly 7.3-times average over the past 20 years. Its forward earnings-per-share measure has climbed to more than four times its level at the end of 2023, according to the Toronto-based investment manager.
โWe believe that major gold miners favour capital discipline and profitability, which has at least been partly reflected in their balance sheets and rising shareholder distributions,โ Director of Research & Investment Strategy Kenny Zhu said in an emailed reply to The Northern Miner. โNet debt levels have fallen to their lowest point in the past 20 years, even as return on capital rises and shareholder distributions increase.โ (Northern Miner)

Meanwhileโฆ
If gold miners were a standalone sector, they would be the cheapest group in this comparison of US equities.
Roughly a 10% free cash flow yield.
No other sector shown comes close.

The initial response to this article has been incredible.
The S&P 500 is now <1% away from a record high but 206 of its components are down over -30%.
Never in history has this happened before.
It's the "Bear-Bull Market Paradox." Bookmark this.

โBig mistake.

In the name of racial justice, California Democrats limit who can be pulled over
โThe Los Angeles City Council just ruled that the LAPD is no longer allowed to pull people over if they have expired tags, non-functioning taillights, a cracked windshield, broken sideview mirrors, an illegal tint, a loud exhaust, or missing license plates.
What reason, might you ask, that they have for doing this? Well, they said, quote, โit disproportionately affects Black and brown motorists.โ These are the LA City Council members, by the wayโ
I verified this and it passed UNANIMOUSLY with Democrats, all 14 Democrat City Council members passed it
They voted to restrict โpretextualโ stops, meaning cases where an officer uses a minor vehicle-code violation as the legal reason to stop someone in order to look for something like guns, drugs, warrants, etc
But of course now this can be used to just not pull people over because of their skin color, meanwhile Iโm sure white people will be pulled over more than ever
The categories named in coverage
- Expired registration and tags
- Non-working lights and taillights
- Cracked windshield
- Broken or missing mirrors
- Illegal tint
- Loud exhaust
- Missing or improperly displayed plates
- Other similar low-level equipment or paperwork issues
This is racist and again, every single Democrat council member voted for it in a city already getting destroyed by crime

Hey Canada, thanks for the assisted suicide brochure. She chose chemotherapy instead.
Kristin Logan had stage 4 ovarian cancer, and according to her husband, Donovan James, while they were desperately trying to get her treated in Canada, they were confronted with MAID, Medical Assistance in Dying, Canadaโs assisted dying program, while her actual cancer treatment was going nowhere. So they came to the United States, where she received chemotherapy and HIPEC surgery.
Today sheโs living in Texas, in remission, lifting weights and hiking mountains. Imagine that. A woman with stage 4 cancer wanted to LIVE, and instead of helping her die, American doctors helped her fight to stay alive. Crazy concept, I know.
Canada, you can keep the assisted suicide brochure. Sheโll keep climbing mountains, because I think she made her choice pretty clear. ๐บ๐ธ
