As a survivor of conversion therapy, I've never had to have a "robust conversation" with anyone in or around my political party about legalizing conversion therapy, whether gay men are prone to pedophilia, or women's access to healthcare. Funny how that works.

This guy stands for nothing. Honestly. I was hopeful cuz he’s a little more moderate, but he speaks out of both sides of his mouth on ALL topics. He doesn’t take a stance on things he says matters to him, just word salad, not even empty promises. Conversations are for your kids, not a law maker infringing on basic BC human rights. Also, heather made the statements last year, not in the past. She was a conservative MLA then and she also is now. Either deal with it, or just admit your party is anti LGBTQ Enough of the fence sitting.

We need to be clear what we are talking about here. Heather Maahs doesn’t believe everyone in BC should have the same civil rights. She doesn’t believe in a woman’s right to bodily autonomy and healthcare. She supports and endorses homophobia. This isn’t just one video- she’s made this clear numerous times, notably inviting a homophobic and anti-choice lobby group to Victoria to have lunch in the Hall of Honour. There’s no ambiguity here. Lorne says he doesn’t share her views, and that respect and safety are important to him- so why run a candidate that British Columbians need to be kept safe from?

Calling SOGI a “lightning rod for division” and then promising to repeal it is quite the message. When inclusion becomes controversial, you don’t get rid of inclusion. You deal with the intolerance causing the controversy. Every kid deserves to feel safe at school. Full stop. 🛑 @vancolour
