i enjoyed posting on fitness instagram for about 6 weeks
but i have a genuine aversion to be consistently performative, especially on top of training up to 14 hours a week. i just genuinely don't have the energy to film and edit content, it's just not for me. i guess i just don't like doing video content anymore.
then i found share aura, and i am so annoyed i didn't get on it sooner. it's like everything i like about strava, ig and twitter in one app.
i genuinely love that your exact target community is there instead of having to train an algorithm. everyday you're posting to people who just get it and get hwat your doing. which i think a lot of platforms have this huge layer of friction towards building a community. currently - i also just think the vibes on instagram are Bad. why is everyone so mad? you can't do anything without someone being Mad. i have found myself spending less and less time there.
with Aura, everything just makes sense from a creator perspective too, especially if you're really trying to niche down. you can forget the noise, instagram is noise, tiktok is noise. some noise i good i guess because you need those waves to drive community but it's finding that balance between noise and community. i've never been a team sport girlie, i played field hockey for a bit but i hated the cold. but i've always been a distance swimmer and that's a pretty isolating sport which i think reflects a lot of who i am as a person, a founder, and just generally.
i'm social, contextually, but i am a pretty isolated person by design, and it's a cage of my own curation and honestly i like it. but it doesn't mean i don't yearn for closeness or community. which is why i like to build these corners of the internet where i get to exist as myself, if it's too performative i find it takes energy away from the purpose.
the friction to aura is doing the thing, running, training, that's the easy part for me, the same way making a video is the easy part for some people.
anyway - i like posting on aura, and i'm going to take the gamble on trying to grow my brand and community there as opposed to expending energy on instagram. it just makes sense
