The F-16 doesn’t make its pilots stronger. It changes the geometry. The pilot reclines about 30° to survive the brutal effects of high-G flight. At 9G, a 150-lb body effectively weighs around 1,350 lbs. Blood gets pulled away from the brain. Vision starts fading. Then comes blackout. That reclined seat helps reduce the vertical distance the heart has to fight against. The trade-off? Your neck pays the price every time you look over your shoulder. But at 9G, a sore neck is a pretty good deal. ✈️🔥

Canada Army Run 2026 is in the books! Thank you to everyone who came to Ottawa, or ran virtually, to make this year's race unforgettable and raise money to support great causes in our military communities. Thank you to all the volunteers; this day could not succeed without you.

When Swedish engineer Nils Bohlin invented the three-point seat-belt today in 1959, Volvo made the patent free for all competitors to use in order to save lives because it had more value as a free life-saving tool than something to profit from.

Fun fact. The Monarch butterfly migration is one of the longest-known, multi-generational insect migrations on our planet. Every fourth generation lives 8 times longer than the previous generations and travels 10 times farther.

Arrived in Canada. Canada has been and remains one of our closest partners. We value all the support from Canadians and the decisions that help Ukraine stand strong and protect our people. Important meetings and agreements are planned that will shape our cooperation and solidify the already strategic level of our relationship for years to come. I will meet with Prime Minister @MarkJCarney. The main focus will be on supporting Ukraine in protecting our skies and preparing for the winter. We will discuss how to strengthen our resilience, support our people, and ensure that Ukraine has the capabilities it needs to defend itself. The First Lady has a meeting planned with philanthropists who support Ukraine. She will also visit Canadian equivalents of Ukraine’s “Schools of Superheroes.” Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine.

We will always remember those who lost their lives on 9/11. Marking the 25th anniversary, the NHL has donated to four organizations — FDNY Foundation, New York Police Foundation, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, and 9/11 Day — to honor those we lost and assist active and retired first responders and their families. 🇺🇸

The Shame of Donald Trump Donald Trump skipped the 9/11 memorial because it would not let him be the main character. Twenty-five years after the attacks, Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush stood at Ground Zero and honored the 2,977 people murdered that day. The sitting president of the United States could not be bothered. The New York ceremony does not allow political speeches. It is for the dead. That was a deal-breaker. So Trump went to the Pentagon, where he could grab a microphone and turn remembrance into a performance. Four former presidents showed up for the victims. Trump showed up for Trump.

Today, we pause to remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001, and honour the innocent lives lost, including Canadian citizens. We also reflect on the bravery of the first responders who intervened that day and in the days to come.

25 years ago, 2,974 lives and families were changed forever. The attacks profoundly impacted Canada, taking the lives of 24 Canadians and resulting in our 12 year operations in Afghanistan where 158 Canadians made the ultimate sacrifice and thousands were injured as a result of their service. In the years since, September 11th has formally become Canada’s National Day of Service, and the Provincial Day of Service in the province of Ontario — meant to remember the courage and compassion in the aftermath of 9/11 and rekindle the spirit of kindness and goodwill that unified our country best exhibited by our friends in Gander, Newfoundland. We will never forget.

On the eve of the 25th anniversary of 9/11, NORAD reflects on how that day reshaped defending the homelands. The attacks marked a turning point, shifting NORAD from a principally outward‑focused posture to protecting North American airspace against all threats – both internal and external – 24/7/365. This long‑form feature shares stories from across the Command and highlights how 9/11 launched NORAD’s Operation NOBLE EAGLE, a mission sustained through fighter patrols, alert sites, and integrated airspace security. We Remember. #WeHavetheWatch
