Using Technology to Monitor Biodiversity in Lobéké
From 19–23 October 2026, 14 participants from Lobéké National Park received training from NatureAnalytics on biodiversity monitoring sensors under the IKI INFORBIO Project, coordinated by WWF Germany.
The park received 165 Solaris camera traps and 100 acoustic devices to monitor wildlife, assess biodiversity, identify potential ICCAs and OECMs, and evaluate connectivity between protected areas.
The initiative also promotes the One Health approach, linking ecosystem health, wildlife conservation and human well-being.

Mangroves are more than beautiful landscapes!
They store carbon, protect coastlines from erosion and shelter marine life. In Cameroon’s Limbe Coastal Forests landscape, their conservation is key to protecting biodiversity and sustaining local communities.

Exciting news! WWF Cameroon has launched the Living Planet Report 2026 today in Yaoundé. Encouraging updates on forest elephants and gorillas in Lobéké NP show progress, but every action counts.
Great things happen when we bring our energy, ideas, and efforts together. May this week be filled with meaningful progress and new opportunities to make a difference, as one team, for people and nature.
Happy New Week from WWF Cameroon! 💚

Across Africa, the Living Planet Report 2026 tells a sobering story of wildlife decline. There are however flickers of hope in the Congo Basin. In Lobéké National Park in Cameroon, elephant populations are stabilising after years of sharp decline.
Lobéké’s elephants still need protection, but their story shows that recovery is possible when we persevere.
Across the Congo Basin, forests provide vital refuge for forest elephants, great apes, bonobos and okapis.
The Congo Basin’s forests face growing threats from deforestation, infrastructure and poaching. Lasting protection depends on collective action, with Indigenous Peoples and local communities at the heart of conservation. 🌿
