We need to talk about automation. A lot of you are asking, and you deserve a straight answer.
You have watched other projects push instant, fully automated payouts like @UsePaid, and you are wondering why we don't just flip the same switch since we were the first protocol. We hear you. The frustration is fair, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
First, credit where it is due. The @XMoney team is shipping at a pace most fintechs would not attempt. They opened X Money to Premium subscribers in the US, brought creator payouts into it, and now people without a subscription can use it too. Instant sends between X users, no fees. XLINK only exists because they built that. We don't have an inside line to them and we don't speak for them, but we watch what they ship, and it is a lot, fast.
Here is the honest part.
There is no public X Money API yet. That is not a complaint. A product moving this fast has a roadmap, and we trust an API is on it. But "not yet" matters for how payouts can work today. Without an API, the only way anyone can fully automate sends right now is to run a bot that drives the X website itself: it holds a security key, answers X's verification prompt, and pushes the payment through the X Money interface as if a person were sitting there.
X's own automation rules are clear on that. They prohibit automation that does not go through the API, they name scripting the X website as the example, and they say it may result in permanent suspension of the account.
Building that bot is not the hard part. Living with it is. Our payouts go out through our own X account manually. Put a bot on that account and every 𝕏 users payout is one enforcement action away from stopping cold, with no appeal we control and no timeline we can promise you.
A rule that hasn't been enforced on someone yet is still a rule. Enforcement is X's call, on X's timeline, and we would rather never be on the wrong side of it. We are not going to bet your pots on that.
So on this one thing, we follow the rules as written. Sometimes that means a human in the loop. Sometimes it means we are slower than a bot.
A project that bets its life on a rule not being enforced is not being bold. It is borrowing against a future it may not have.
The day X ships a public X Money API, we build on it. That day. We would rather be first in line at the door they open than climb through a window they told everyone to stay out of.
Choosing compliance is not weakness. It is respect for the rules of the platform we are building on, and it is us choosing your long game over this week's hype.
