figuring out

When I first put BharatBuilt up it was just cars. 87 models, looking at how localized they actually are. Engines, gearboxes, body, electronics, design, final assembly. It’s a lot bigger now. 288 reports. Cars are still there, but also bikes, phones, ACs, laptops, trains, chips, batteries, solar, wind, and defense. I like the defense section. Fighters, missiles, ships. Who designed them, what India builds, and what still comes from outside. Every fact on the site still has a source you can click and check yourself. bharatbuilt.org If something looks off, or you have a better public source, drop a reply. I’m trying to keep this honest.
Just put up BharatBuilt - bharatbuilt.org/ It's a simple project that looks at how localized the cars sold in India actually are. Not just "assembled here" claims, but real supply chain details on engines, gearboxes, body, electronics, design, and final assembly.

ancient hindus: achieve moksha and transcend human limitations silicon valley: interesting. how many GPUs would that take?
i was in a random bookstore & came across a book that described achieving moksha as achieving “super intelligence”. the hindu religion figured it out a while ago.

it humbles you down when you get a perspective of non-digital skills/job/path when coming from a software background
Sorry I have to say this, even if it pisses off a lot of people: in general, it's dangerous to have a purely digital job with zero offline component today.

Every country that has manufactured consumer electronics at scale eventually produces its own global champions. I wrote down my thoughts on why India Is inevitable:

I am done with this shit. It is over. The state of engineering right now is horrible. It has been half a month since I started a new role at a big company. Nobody knows anything here. The specs, code, tests, PRDs, tickets, resolution of those tickets, reports, etc., everything is made by Claude Code. Nobody on my team likes this. They are being forced to ship as much as they can. I have heard multiple times from higher management that pushing code is not a bottleneck, so why are we slow? People are working 12 to 13 hours a day just to press enter. Nobody is reading anything. Humans in corporate are doing nothing on their own. Everyone, literally everyone, from an L1 to an L7 engineer here is doing the same thing. Talk to Claude. There is no sense of victory. Nobody is resolving bugs. In reality, nobody is thinking anymore. Everything is done by LLMs. It is so soul-sucking. I would not mind it, to be honest, if we were at least given the time to check out the code and see what is going where. But no, the goal is to just ship. No matter what happens.

i’ve often wondered about this too. we’ve made marks the goal and learning the side effect. what if we made learning the goal and marks just the side effect?
An opinion: What if we reimagined STEM education without exams, grades, and GPAs? Universities enable learning. Students own it. They get a certificate listing the courses; the world decides how good they are. Why stamp a letter or number on a student? Does this work?

i remember hearing @hemanthrao11 say in an interview that anant nag sir deserved much more recognition nationwide for his contribution to indian cinema. that was the first time i’d heard someone articulate it that way, and it genuinely changed how i looked at the legend’s work. glad to see this recognition today.
What delightful news about Anant Sir getting the Dadasaheb Phalke Award!!! Fantastic to see our treasure and pride, one of the greatest contributors to Indian cinema, get the recognition he truly deserves. Congratulations and lots of love to you sir. You will forever be my North Star in the pursuit of excellence. #AnantNag #Legend

been using “simplify and explain” for 2+ years. whenever i’m trying to understand something, i just ask ai to simplify and explain it. “explain like i’m five” works too, but at some point you get tired of lemon stands and lego pieces. “simplify and explain” gives me exactly what i want.
a skill people at Anthropic have been using a lot recently: ELI5 /eli5 <what you want explained> "explain like I'm someone who knows nothing about this topic, using a HTML artifact with big pictures and few words"

and yet i sometimes catch myself opening antigravity and asking gemini to build something completely unnecessary because i’m worried i won’t use all my tokens before the 5-hour limit resets. apparently i now have token anxiety.
google has made the gemini limits in antigravity so generous that, for most of what i build, i genuinely don’t have to think about running out of tokens. it’s kind of insane how much you can get done on the pro plan. @antigravity
