Sounds like someone doesn't know how to math.

It’s a diesel bud, look at the torque

Horsepower is torque multiplied by RPM. High displacement Diesel engines make a lot of low end torque, but don’t rev much at all. It’s also why 15L Cummins X15N makes nearly 2000lb-ft of torque but only like, 500 horsepower.

Power per displacement hasn't been relevant for 50 years. Thermal efficiency is the only thing people with actual knowledge of engine design care about and the Americans are exactly as state of the art as the Europeans (or Japanese). Cope and seethe.

Oh really... Let me introduce you to my little friend... 1064hp.

The small yuropoor mind cannot comprehend 1667 Nm of torque

Wait til you learn about semi trucks.

Converted to europoor units that’s 562ps and 1668nm, which is a huge amount of power. What are you on bud. More torque than a Bugatti Chiron

They weren't going for Hp numbers. Its a big diesel. Its torque. They want this motor to pull heavy shit around. Hell if GM did something right for once this motor could obtain way higher numbers. Buts that putting faith in any modern auto manufacturer for a crank to not explode.

You should probably not comment on vehicles / engines as this is a ridiculous statement regarding an engine with over 1200ft-lb of torque.

Its a Diesel engine. Its not ment for high HP.

HP is how fast you can hit the wall, Torque is how far you push the wall down the road

Wait till it’s deleted and tuned so it can actually breathe properly.

Europoors will never understand this.

"Why does the diesel designed around torque have so much torque but notch horsepower" My guy
18
It's a diesel engine for a pickup truck. No one cares about the power, just the torque.

1,230 lb-ft of torque lmao you can tow the Earth with that much bruh 😂
83
It's a diesel meant for towing excavators and sewage pipes, genius.

Uhh dios vos pensas que un deutz 8 de 16L de cilindrada que mueve mas de 20 toneladas, tiene 2000 hp? NO, tiene 700 hp y 2890nm a 1400 RPM POR DIOS
41
The Horsepower per liter is actually pretty good for a diesel of this size

Pls read up on diesels and diesel fuel as a molecular structure + how that energy is released

Peak numbers only tell half the story.

Whereas the 8.3L unit of the European Bugatti Tourbillon churns out 1000 hp from the engine alone

me when I have a 12 year olds understanding of power and torque

Trucks need torque, not power. Power is for going faster and faster. Torque is for getting going from a stand still which is imperative for towing heavy loads.

"1,230 lb-ft torque" Are you dense?

Over 1200 lb-ft of torque is low?? 555hp out of an emissioned diesel?? You're a fuckin idiot
2
The idea of a brit not understanding how a diesel engine works and that somehow 1,200 lb-ft of torque is a fucking lot

Settle down Muhammad
