La început de an universitar, am revenit cu mare emoție la instituția care m-a format, și nu numai ca matematician. Universitatea București este un centru de excelență în învățământul superior românesc și reușește să se adapteze la cerințele societății și ale pieței economice, care au o dinamică tot mai accentuată. Miza prezentului este dacă reușim să fim o societate a cunoașterii în care deciziile sunt luate pe baza adevărurilor științei. Ca acest lucru să se întâmple, trebuie ca fiecare dintre noi, în specialitatea noastră, dincolo de activitatea profesională strictă, să fim mai prezenți în mediile unde are loc dezbaterea în societate. Fac acest îndemn în special către cadrele didactice. Altfel, există riscul ca oamenii să fie influențați de persoane care nu au reperele corecte, fie că vorbim de domeniul istoric, financiar sau medical. Studenților le transmit să profite de acești ani - cunoașterea este una din cele mai mari bucurii ale vieții, dacă nu cea mai mare. Folosiți această perioadă pentru a vă dezvolta și pentru a afla cât mai multe. Mult succes tuturor!
