TESLA CRYSTAL SUN: Fort Bend County, TX - September 20th, 2026 It was a sunny day with a few scattered clouds on Sunday, so I drove over to Fort Bend County and flew over the proposed Crystal Sun Solar Factory site, and then the brand new Ørsted Old 300 Megapack site. Both are within a 10 minute drive of each. The video is in 2 parts and here is some info on the two sites. ***I need your support now more than ever. As always, I have attached a Subscriber Photo-Thread.*** PART 1: CRYSTAL SUN Tesla’s Project Crystal Sun is a proposed $10.1 billion solar cell and module factory in Fort Bend County, Texas, off FM 762 and FM 1994 near Richmond, on about 3,050 acres inside Lamar CISD. The plant would make cells and modules in-house (ingot through module). Construction is targeted 2026–2028, with production Q1 2029. Filing lists 1,147 construction jobs and 9,712 permanent jobs by 2033. Tesla filed for JETI tax incentives July 22nd, and say it is still choosing between this site and another U.S. location. Lamar CISD voted 7-0 on September 15th to approve a 10-year school tax limitation. State JETI approval is still pending. PART II: ØRSTED OLD 300 TESLA MEGAPACK SITE This Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is located 10 minutes southeast of Crystal Sun in nearby Needville. The published project rating is 250 MW / 500 MWh. I count 166 Megapacks which would be closer to 315 MW / 639 MWh. It reached commercial operations on August 5th, 2026, and is fully connected to the ERCOT grid. The site sits next to Ørsted’s 430 MW Old 300 Solar farm. The solar plant started operating in October 2024, uses bifacial single-axis tracking panels, and generates enough electricity for roughly 80,000 Texas homes and businesses. Microsoft holds a 2021 power purchase agreement for the solar output. The Megapacks and solar farm share the site but run independently. The Megapacks can charge from or discharge to the wider ERCOT grid, not only from the adjacent solar array.

COVID and AI The parallel is not subtle. A high-risk research program in China produced a virus that tore through the world: 15,000,000 dead. The same pattern is now forming with AI: capability built inside an opaque system, then potentially released into the open. Nobody wanted a pandemic virus out of a Chinese lab. Nobody should want a hostile, poorly constrained Chinese model dumped into the wild either. That is not a metaphor. Open-weight systems already travel. Once they are out, they are out. Yes, AI can cause enormous harm. That is exactly why a unilateral U.S. freeze is the stupidest available move. You do not disarm your own labs while the other side keeps training. You do not pause frontier work in the United States so Beijing can close the last remaining gap and then set the default stack for the planet. Some politicians still want that outcome (the world is looking at you @BernieSanders). They want a hold on American frontier models while China builds without equivalent restraint. That is not caution. That is strategic self-sabotage dressed up as moral seriousness. The United States needs the strongest AI it can build and control for one reason: adversarial nation-state systems are coming whether Washington lectures itself or not. If you cannot match or beat those systems, you do not get to set the terms. You react to them. AI is already being turned into a political football. That game never produces safety. It produces delay on one side and acceleration on the other. We have already seen how that story ends.

GOOD NEWS 🇺🇸 According to an exclusive report from the Seoul Economic Daily, Samsung has kicked off pilot production for Tesla’s next-generation AI5 chips on a 2-nanometer node at its Taylor, Texas foundry, ahead of the original November target 🔥 The early rollout is fueled by surging demand from Tesla, which signed a $16.5 billion (roughly 22 trillion KRW) chip supply deal with Samsung last year. Tesla is pressing for faster, high-volume deliveries to power its latest rollouts—spanning autonomous driving tech, its EV lineup, the Cybercab robotaxi, Optimus humanoid robots, and dedicated AI data centers. With equipment installed in April and tape-out completed in July, Samsung aims to wrap up yield and mass-production testing by year-end to clear the runway for commercial shipments next year. The rapid ramp-up in Texas also provides critical breathing room for Samsung’s domestic facilities in Hwaseong and Pyeongtaek, where advanced 2nm-to-4nm production lines are already running at full capacity.
