Property tax is bullshit! There is zero reason to tax people on things they already own!

Just income test property tax Should be income tested for everyone Under $25,000 income no tax payable Many retire government workers are collecting $100,000 a year in pension income

End all tax for seniors over 70 who are not part of the wealthy elite in Canada. I do not know any senior who has a pension of $100000USD which is lower middle class in America. It's called helping the people who need help. @MonaFortier @cafreeland @JustinTrudeau @fordnation

Local governments do need the tax revenue but I think there needs to be a compromise somewhere and I think it should be way before 70. Maybe only taxes against mortgaged property. Idk

You'd see a different reaction if you asked "Should the age group with the most money be able to skip out on paying their property taxes?" or "Would you vote to raise your own property taxes so seniors would have none?"

My wife and I would like to give you a great big hug. Our Long Island School Tax is much higher than our property tax. We haven’t had a child in school for over 20 years.

Maybe 67 so we can retire and enjoy a little bit of life while we can physically do so. That's fair to people that put in 45+ yrs of labor.

End property taxes period. When you've worked your ass off and paid for a home, there should be zero strings attached to the government

End property tax for all. Government will always find a way to tax.

Should ban it completely.

Not sure I agree. That would mean they are being given special privilege, and our society is suppose to be based in equality before the law.

How about we end property taxes for any age? Stop kicking us all out of our homes, or making it too expensive to buy one in the first place.

x.com/ACTBrigitte/status/131… That was supposed to happen long ago. In PA they ran deficits up too bad couldn't do it. The Casino's were supposed to assist seniors as well as the lottery proceeds It was all lies & it will never happen. Ppl got rich & to he seniors lust their homes.

That is what they want.I complained on a community page about our city, county, state raising our property tax so much that elders would be affected the response was guess you should consider moving then, and time to move on to another part of life like I didn't deserve my home.

Better idea. Let's write and pass legislation that stops local governments from using property tax and a bottomless piggy bank. Local governments seems to think if they need more money just raise property taxes..One city in my area is eyeing a 20% property tax increase.

Especially since in most places property taxes go to support schools with liberal teachers

My mom has lived in the same 1200 square foot home for over 70 years. She still pays property taxes. So little income. Such high tax bills. #Trump2020

At minimum cut the school taxes after you hit retirement age. I have paid 10s of thousands of dollars for schools and never had any children. Meanwhile, public housing in my neighborhood have multiple kids and pay no taxes.

Let's end all property taxes because no one should have their homes taken from them.

People over the age of 70 statistically have the most wealth. Plus we’re paying their medical care and Social Security. Here’s a better idea: have lower property taxes for everyone instead of special benefits for a special interest group.

@realDonaldTrump No need to wait until age 70, most are dead by then! Abolish real estate taxes completely & allow #Americans to own their land! The #Illusion of property ownership

Or end property tax in general. Makes me feel like I don’t own anything if I have to pay rent for it the rest of my life.

It should definitely being less for those on limited income.. That is my one hesitation to leaving CA since we still have Prop 13 protection keeping our property tax lower than if we lived elsewhere.

Texas loves to tout zero income tax yet have crazy high property taxes and with no credits available. Other states have lower property taxes with a state income tax. The state provides tax credits to completely offset the state income tax. Property taxes are horrible.

I’m 70 & have been paying thousands of $$$ in property taxes annually on the same house for 40 years - almost as much as I paid for my house. I have used very few city services (trash is extra), & paid to send my kids to decent private schools. I’m drowning!!!

Huge reform needed there and Repubs won’t do it. As bad as Dems

In Alabama , the property tax ends at 80 years old. Each state should manage this process. I agree ,70 is a good starting point. Some people think seniors are well off and some maybe. The bulk of seniors rely on social security , which is not livable.

Property tax is bs period. We don’t actually own our property we rent it from the government

I support it for homestead property. However, if they own investment properties, those should be taxed.
