CAUGHT ON TAPE: Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico bragged his church housed illegal immigrants facing ICE deportation, giggling that "Christianity is just another word for causing trouble."
The resurfaced 2023 podcast clip shows Talarico — a Presbyterian seminarian running against AG Ken Paxton for a critical Senate seat — crediting his faith for pushing progressive causes including LGBTQ activism, sheltering undocumented families from deportation, and letting atheists join the congregation.
Talarico also ripped what he called "Christo-fascism" in Texas, pointing to the Ten Commandments in schools, bans on child sex-change procedures, and the state's abortion ban as examples of using "faith to exercise raw political, social and economic power." Despite the controversy, he currently leads Paxton in a recent Fox News poll.
