It's hard to describe how I feel watching the heritage and culture of great European nations be intentionally and systematically dismantled. Great Britain especially has given us much of the framework for building more just and dignified communities and institutions, which though they're now under attack, we've largely taken for granted in the West. English common law, the Magna Carta (1215), habeas corpus, and the gradual development of parliamentary supremacy became models for legal systems across the English-speaking world and influenced later constitutionalism. (h/t Grok) For all the misery it may have also caused, the Industrial Revolution in Britain did set the stage for a mass reduction in poverty, driving countless innovations that made life generally far more bearable for people across the globe. And what about literature and language? Imagine a world without Shakespeare’s plays which remain a central reference point in Western drama and language. Or a world without Chaucer, John Milton, William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge? Or without Jane Austen, the Brontë sisters, Charles Dickens, George Orwell, and even Agatha Christie? Their intellectual and linguistic gifts are so infused in English-speaking cultures, that once again, we take for granted that the conventions we've long appreciated have always just been there. I could write far more by also referencing the the one-time greatness of France, Spain, and Italy, (and even Germany to a degree especially as it relates to music and philosophy), but that's for an essay, not an X post. Everyday now I watch in horror as France, Spain, the UK, and Germany disappear before our very eyes. Thankfully, Italy doesn't seem to be on quite the same downward spiral as France and Spain largely thanks to Meloni I suspect, imperfect though she may be. What makes this catastrophe even more tragic and mind-boggling is knowing that it's been planned and is being implemented by Europeans themselves. Mass immigration from cultures that are hostile to the West is being executed by the same misanthropic elites who've for decades been actively discouraging marriage, child bearing, religion and faith, and healthy sexuality, (not to mention the right to self-defence), thus preparing the populace for the “need” to import millions of migrants who will decimate Christendom once and for all. It's a crisis I never imagined when I was younger. I can only keep praying that enough Europeans wake up to the existential threat that's upon them and find the courage and grace to fight back against the demons who rule them. It might take a miracle to save Europe, but miracles happen all the time. What people need to realize is that God usually works them not to increase faith, but as a response to faith. Every European citizen seeking to preserve what's left of his or her culture, needs to turn back to God before it's too late.

I woke up in the wee hours of October 7, 2023, checked X, and saw that Hamas had launched a terrorist incursion into Israel. I didn't think much of it, because I just perceived that part of the world as volatile. I went back to sleep not knowing that my life was forever changed. At the time I was solidly in the libertarian camp and broadly anti-war. I was also opposed to anti-Semitism as an Evangelical Christian, and even considered the re-establishment of national Israel as Providential, but I always considered the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as distant and not very important to me as an American. It seemed like an intractable problem, and I felt like I'd heard some compelling perspectives on each side of the conflict. I was nominally a two-state solution guy, but really I just didn't know much about the conflict beyond high level stuff, and I always considered it a topic that I need to "get around to someday." I was pretty shocked at how immediately people started up the "Israel is committing a genocide" propaganda campaign. That seemed obviously to be a false framing, and I started looking at some of the war crimes claims and pushing back on them over that first year after 10/7. I had been a massive @RonPaul fan during his 2008 and 2012 campaigns for president, so I could never have dreamed that Ron's cohost would say this to me: "...I know that is just your 'persona' assigned to you at the hasbara factory. Enjoy your death shekels. You'll soon feel the long burn." He later went on to openly cheer for Hezbollah and the IRGC on X. He's one of the more extreme figures in the libertarian movement, but they all very quickly moved in that direction. Dave Smith used to be a pretty clear thinker. For the first year or so he dismissed the claims that Israel was engaged in a genocide, but over time he's become more and more bitter and hateful over Israel, and eventually embraced the full genocide rhetoric. The Mises Institute, once so focused on the academic work of libertarianism and Austrian Economics, named for a Jewish economist who fled from Austria to avoid capture by the Nazis, fired Jewish economist Walter Block for daring to offer a libertarian defense of Israel's defensive war against Hamas. It will grieve Walter to hear me say this when I send him this, but I don't consider myself a libertarian any more. That's not to say I've turned my back on libertarian principles. There's been so much rich academic work over the decades that is worth valuing and continuing. But nearly everyone in the libertarian movement has become so ghoulish toward Israel and the Jewish people, that I won't use that term to refer to myself any longer. I burned nearly every bridge I had to prominent figures in the libertarian movement since then. Not because I wanted to, but because I had to speak out against the group insanity I was seeing as the majority of that movement became ensnared in conspiracy brain thinking and succumbing to dark spiritual forces that most of them don't have the spiritual awareness to recognize. Along the way I've made a lot of new friends, and I'm grateful that I don't feel any moral or intellectual confusion anymore regarding the Israel-Palestinian issue. I'm proud to call myself a Zionist. I'm proud to stand against evil.
