Very thick it seems. Vision Pro one is smaller.
Here’s a closer look at the compute puck for the Meta VR Glasses.

Yea, the puck was definitely hefty

Because they put the compute in the box in the box, not on your face. Apple should do the same.

Apple will, but better

Ok that looks way better indeed

Tbh, in this case the size of the box doesn’t really matter. No one’s going to use this thing two days after buying it anyway. Same as with the Vision Pro, for that matter

Not true. These devices could be and will be used a lot

~Same weight tho. Now let's do the headset portion! "Very thick it seems. Meta Glasses one is smaller. 😅 Both have pucks. If the goal of a puck is to move weight & heat away from the head, Meta did it better. 800gm to 100gm is quite a W. Total system: AVP 1.15kg MG 0.4kg -65%

Okay, let’s put all the weight on your head: 650 grams, plus the battery pack... Or 100 grams headset and a slightly bigger battery pack with all the compute in it.

not much larger actually but either way yeah this one is a whole computer while Apple Vision Pro is literally just a battery lol

This doesn’t really matter. Odd thing to nitpick. Weight on face matters much more.

Compute is there also. I mean who cares, clip it or put it on desk.

Makes sense, it's more than just the battery. Luckily this being thicker is irrelevant, it's with the glasses that it matters most.

It's just a puck. It better be bigger if it mean better specs

Heat-dissipation wise, separating those two makes a lot of sense. Having this in your pocket will probably be like walking around with a red hot lump of coal.

Well, yeah, the Vision Pro's puck is just a battery, this is a whole ass computer *and* a battery.

Isn't apple's, just a battery?

Watch norm from tested's video. He puts them side by side. They are almost the same size, with the meta computer unit being just slightly bigger.

How the fuck is it bigger than the Vision Pro battery
13
Replying to @ASychov
Yeah it’s absurdly chonky but unlike Apple it has to hold a similar sized battery and all its compute within the puck so it’s unfortunately expected. Maybe the new thinner batteries can make a gen 2 have a more small phone sized puck

And how much weight do you carry on your head with the Vision Pro?

This has the compute module in it

Isn’t Vision Pro battery life also less than half as long
16
Replying to @ASychov
Yes but AVP has like 500g on your face. Unbearable

It’s a trade off for a lighter pair of glasses

This is the way — remove computer from head. I have a Magic Leap unit that paved that path 8 years ago and it was indeed magical.
