Please meet Kova who joined the Notts kennels this morning. This poor girl's body score has got to be around 2, she is very underweight. Kova jumped in the van and I didn't hear a peep out of her during the journey. We arrived at the kennels and she had a short walk to just stretch her legs before going into her kennel. This little girl is the most happiest, funniest dog that we've had in for a while but sadly also the most emaciated. Kova is barely a year old, she is just a baby but sadly she's already had a litter....just why?! We have started her on small meals of tripe and she's been wormed, she will also get checked over by our vet very soon. Kova is a petite girl but her character is huge and she has already shown us today how clever she is and despite all that she's been though she loves everyone she meets - these dogs are so forgiving & amazing aren't they! It took some time to catch her but eventually she was caught and brought to us. Unsurprisingly she was never claimed. Chelsea has taken some time to trust humans, she was a very timid girl when she arrived and it’s taken months to get her confident enough to come out of kennel and into our enclosed field. She’s not yet happily walking on a lead but we’re definitely heading in the right direction! Her best friend Chase is definitely helping to show her the way, you won’t see one without the other 🐕🐕 It would be lovely if they were rehomed together but I do understand rehoming one large black dog is a big ask so I doubt we’ll find someone to adopt the 2? But if they aren’t rehomed together Chelsea MUST be rehomed with a confident resident dog. Chelsea is dog friendly, she’s very calm around dogs, she’s actually a very calm dog in general! She has a very sweet nature and loves spending time with the humans she now trusts. She’d benefit from a calm home with someone willing to give her time to come out of her shell and bond in her own time. Chelsea is around 2y.o and a very small, broken coated Lurcher, she’s probably got Staffie in there somewhere as you can see by her face  She can be rehomed with teenagers and above and she’s not met cats. Marnie needs a home (or foster) with a family who have large breed experience just because she’s a big girl, so has strength behind her if she does pull on lead, but she mostly walks very well on lead and listens well to asking her to slow up if she’s getting a bit excited, but when she does pull to something excited, she will need someone confident and capable of handling her. Marnie is fully housetrained, is very quiet and settled when she’s left on her own, and doesn’t chew, so we think she’ll be happy being left on her own for a few hours with no issues at all. She also travels well – what a good girl!! Marnie will be best suited to a pet free home at the moment. Marnie has sadly had her ears ‘cropped’ at some point in her past – this makes her appearance much harsher than the reality of what she is really like and we really hope people can see past this and see her for the loving big softie that she really is. A small registered charity is OVERWHELMED 💔 We are currently receiving many more requests to take in dogs than we are adoption/foster enquiries 😔 We have had to turn countless dogs away just in the past week alone - something we absolutely hate to do, and goes against why we are here as a charity, but we simply have no space and our current dogs are all still sat waiting for someone to give them a chance 💔 To make matters worse, the vast vast majority of those enquiries we have received are failing to get back to us after initial contact - this is unprecedented and only a very recent issue that we just cannot understand 😣 PLEASE DO NOT apply to adopt/foster if you are not genuine or serious!
