George Wamukoya, OGW, Team Leader at @AGNESAfrica1 , used his CCDA-XIV intervention to make a case that agriculture belongs at the center of Africa's climate negotiations, not at the margins of them. He walked participants through the broader climate negotiation architecture, tracing how decisions made in Paris Agreement processes and subsequent COPs ripple down into what happens on African farms. His argument was that food systems and agriculture deserve a more central place in that chain than they typically get — not as a side sector affected by climate policy, but as one of the areas where Africa's climate response and development agenda genuinely converge. Wamukoya pointed to Africa's own agricultural frameworks, built on the outcomes adopted at Sharm El-Sheikh, as the foundation climate action on the continent should build from, rather than importing priorities set elsewhere. His sharpest point followed from that: climate interventions have to protect food production, not undermine it. A climate policy or project that weakens Africa's ability to feed its own people has failed on its own terms, regardless of what emissions targets it hits.
