Today, the European Parliament approved stronger air passenger rights, marking a clear win for travellers and a major success for the EPP Group, which led the negotiations. The new rules protect existing rights while introducing practical improvements to make air travel fairer, clearer and more reliable. "The European Parliament has shown that protecting passengers and supporting a strong European aviation sector go hand in hand. After more than 13 years, we are finally delivering clearer rules, stronger rights and greater legal certainty. When people take planes, their rights will not be left behind on the ground. And mark my words: passengers and the aviation sector have a good future ahead of them," said @AndreyNovakov MEP, Parliament's lead negotiator on the air passenger rights law. Landed! 🇪🇺✈️ The new agreement on air passenger rights has just been voted by an overwhelming majority in @Europarl_EN. This brings greater certainty to the aviation sector, stronger passenger rights, and easier travel across Europe. Proud of the work done by all MEPs, especially Rapporteur @AndreyNovakov and @EP_Transport Vice-Chair @VSinkevicius, whose determination and commitment made this result possible.

EP promised passengers that their rights would not move backwards and we didn't give up. Today’s COREPER decision confirms it. The 3-hour threshold is preserved. Compensation is preserved. New rights are added, beyond the status quo. A final vote remains in EP on Monday. ✈️

The @EUAuditors delivered their opinion on the NRPPs. Our position remains clear: Commissions come & go. Parliaments come & go. Presidents & governments come & go. But regional challenges persist — and so must a strong EU cohesion policy.

Eastern border regions = NATO's Eastern Flank. As of 2028, regional policy will have a security and defence layer. National and Regional Partnership Plans will be strategic - from Finland to Bulgaia and the Black Sea Region. This will be among my priorities.

We have made it clear from the beginning that we will not back down on key passenger protections. Weakening the rules would be a step in the wrong direction. This is a testament to the @EPPGroup's effective leadership on consumer protection issues. @AndreyNovakov

Remember their faces. Those are the @EPPGroup rapporteurs on the #MFF files in the Committee on Regional Development (REGI). We do not make policies in our Brussels offices. People live in rural areas, cities and regions. We meet them there and we talk human language.
