Monday alone brings $171B, followed by 2-year, 5-year and 7-year debt through Thursday. And the final number will be higher. A 17-week bill on Wednesday and 4-week + 8-week bills on Thursday are still waiting for their auction sizes. If demand isn’t strong enough, yields may need to rise to attract buyers. That means more expensive U.S. borrowing, tighter financial conditions and more competition for money that could otherwise flow into stocks and other risk assets.
