Why are certain Americans so triggered by Canada diversifying its trade and alliances? 🇨🇦🌍
If Europe is truly the poor, slow-growing and failing continent they claim it is, then closer Canadian ties with the EU should pose no threat whatsoever. Yet the intensity of the reaction suggests they are deeply uncomfortable with it.
Something does not add up.
Canada diversifying is not the same as Canada abandoning the United States. It is basic economic risk management. After tariffs, threats and repeated uncertainty from Washington, why wouldn’t Canada seek more customers, investment partners, defence relationships and political options?
Perhaps the real concern is not Europe’s supposed weakness. Perhaps it is Canada becoming less dependent on the United States and therefore harder to pressure. 🤔
Good neighbours should want each other to be strong, prosperous and resilient. Diversification should complement our relationship with America, not threaten it. 🤝
