#Brexit was nothing beyond a criminal enterprise. There was a plan and a goal. First, the anti EU grooming, then the scamming with false promises and a pernicious swarm of outright lies, before finally a multi-billion pound looting of the Treasury. Brexit: Crime of the Century

A Very Serious Matter. A. This must be stated as clearly as possible: There is no justification for launching another campaign against Iran before the election, or immediately afterward. Iran is indeed rebuilding its military capabilities and continuing to expand its power, but there is currently no “smoking gun” requiring an immediate attack, certainly not a military operation that could lead to the postponement of Israel’s elections. B. It is difficult to ignore the fact that the Iranian issue has become part of Israel’s political calculations. This is an extremely dangerous situation. It could lead Israel into another campaign before there has been a serious professional and public discussion about what failed in previous campaigns, why military achievements did not translate into strategic change, and, above all, what leads anyone to believe that another campaign would accomplish what has not been achieved so far. Israel cannot go to war again before understanding why previous wars failed to achieve their objectives. C. Another point must be understood: anyone willing to go to war two weeks before an election may also be willing to do so immediately afterward. The most important question, therefore, is where the professional leadership stands, first and foremost, the defense establishment, and what it is doing to prevent a move that could drag Israel into a difficult, prolonged campaign with no clear strategic purpose. A government that has lost its moral and public legitimacy cannot treat launching another war as a routine political decision, especially when the cost could be devastating for Israel’s citizens, economy, and national security. Another war with Iran is not inevitable. Before deciding to launch one, it is essential to demonstrate that it is necessary, that it has achievable objectives, and that a clear exit strategy exists. At present, none of these questions has received a convincing answer. #Iran #IranWar

UKRAINE THE LATEST Let’s have Michael B from RAND discuss an air-shield over Western Ukraine out of Eastern Poland. Shooting down incoming Russian missiles is a legitimate defensive action. This needs to be increasingly pushed including by @FrancisDearnley @DomNicholls

BREAKING IRAN ANALYSIS: Early this morning, the Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, published an op-ed in the Financial Times entitled: “The False Assumptions About Us Are Dangerous” In this piece, Iran acts… Well, like they have throughout the entirety of this war. As the more rational and decent actor. However, it must be acknowledged, as Araghchi clearly states, that one of the most fundamental issues facing any resolution to the U.S./Iran War, is the complete and total lack of trust between the two warring sides: “To state the obvious, we have no trust whatsoever in the sincerity of the U.S. administration’s professed desire for peace with Iran.” Araghchi then states, when discussing the repeated American aggression that is irrefutable in this war: “In spite of all this, as a career diplomat, I am obliged to do my utmost to give diplomacy a chance, even when hope of success is scant.” But, unlike how much of the Western media likes to spin Araghchi’s statements such as this, he then goes on to clarify that this doesn’t mean Iran is easing their negotiating position. In fact, Iran’s negotiating position hasn’t shifted… AT ALL since the MOU fell apart. When discussing the 7-part framework he presented to the United States at the UN General Assembly last month: “Importantly, under this proposal, the US would not be expected to do anything that it has not already agreed to.” What Araghchi means by this is effectively, “you already agreed to the MOU. Go back to the MOU’s terms and we can work with that.” This does NOT mean that Iran is all of the sudden shifting from their red lines. But then Araghchi makes it very clear that while Iran is MORE than willing to strike a deal with the United States that is compatible with the strategic realities of this war, that does not mean that Iran is unwilling to fight to the death to defend themselves: “Iran, an ancient and proud civilisation, does not bend its knee to any power.” “President Trump made mistaken assumptions about Iran when entering this war. Repeating that error now will only result in an infinitely more painful outcome.” MY TAKE: Let’s all be very clear about what has happened, and IS happening, during this war. The United States launched an illegal war of aggression against Iran for the benefit of Israel that was based on horrendously flawed assumptions of Iran’s resolve and legitimacy that has led to one of the greatest foreign policy failures in American history. But despite this, Iran does not WANT to cause global economic devastation. They have been, and still are, willing to strike a deal with the United States… Assuming that this deal is ACTUALLY based on the realities of how this war has gone. However, Trump’s EGO, alongside the power of the Israeli government, American Israeli Lobby, and the neocons/war hawks in Washington, are making this an impossible dream. Not because it is unreasonable, but because the United States and Israel cannot accept that this war has been such a horrendous disaster. Any rational analyst can look at the strategic landscape of this conflict and determine that Iran has overwhelming and insurmountable escalation dominance in this conflict. There is a REASON escalation dominance has been beaten into the minds of every person on earth throughout the entirety of this conflict. Iran has it, the United States does not. As Abbas Araghchi states in his Financial Times piece: “If the US again chooses military action over diplomacy, I can say with complete and utter confidence that it will result in an even greater strategic failure.”

IRAN WAR ANALYSIS: Increasing indicators seem to point to Iran becoming even more cemented in their inflexibility to move from their negotiating positions. Just today, we saw Ghalibaf himself indicating that Iran must see the U.S. agree to their 7 key conditions before any possible resolution to the conflict voild take place. Mohsen Rezaei, the Secretary of Iran’s National Security Council, also stated today that “not a single gram” of Iran’s highly enriched uranium will leave the country. Even Iran’s more diplomatically-inclined President Pezeshkian has gone silent in recent weeks. Iran has no INTENTION anymore of giving President Trump a negotiating off-ramp President Trump is out of options, and the minimal lack of trust that did still exist between the United States and Iran, or perhaps the DESIRE for trust with Pezeshkian and Ghalibaf in particular, has now been proven wrong so many times by the United States that continuing to underplay their hand seems suicidal for any person in Iran to subscribe to. Iran has TRIED playing nice throughout this war. They haven’t escalated across the Gulf. They haven’t struck the ship to ship transfer point. They haven’t moved against undersea cables. Why? Because they don’t WANT to cross threshold that could make Trump resort to more insane options. But at this point, many in Iran are seeing that only TRUE PAIN will be sufficient to bring about a resolution to this war. They tried the Ghalibaf/Pezeshkian approach, and now it’s time for the Rezaei/Vahidi approach. All in, all the way.

Trump: "We've given a lot to Ukraine. We've gotten absolutely nothing back, except grief, death, and tremendous monetary loss." Only a psychopath could think in such a way. Trump is entirely blind to human suffering. His thinking is locked in a brutal mechanical calculus of money and power. That is all he understands and all he is.
Trump: "We've given a lot to Ukraine. We've gotten absolutely nothing back, except grief, death, and tremendous monetary loss." I don't know how you live with yourself. "Tremendous MONETARY loss"? Well, sorry we got invaded and Russia has been bombing us every day for years and years, blowing up babies in their strollers, burning people in their cars, and crushing people's homes over their heads as they sleep. I thought lives were worth defending, but sure, go ahead and tell us about monetary loss. Trump: "We've given incredible amounts of equipment and military, primarily military equipment, but equipment of all kinds." By the way, is it "tremendous"? US aid to Ukraine is 130–160 billion, including humanitarian aid. The US spent about a trillion in Iraq and Afghanistan. Ukrainians are very thankful for the military aid provided, but we are supposed to defeat the "second army in the world" for a fraction of what you spent fighting terrorists with Soviet rifles and bazookas?

Extraordinary to be reminded that there is little about Trump’s subservience to Putin that was not known a decade ago - and yet so many shallow and cynical careerists on both sides of the Atlantic chose to look the other way
10 years later and it’s still one of the best attack lines in a presidential debate. And now everyone knows she was right.

EU is far from perfect but let's reform it as members again. Brits were always taken seriously & punched above our weight. Splendid isolation stuck between USA, Russia& China doesn't serve our interests. UK is missed & will be welcome back. EU will also be much tougher on borders
You don't have to think the EU is perfect to want Britain back in it. You can disagree with its policies. Want reforms. Criticise its institutions. Membership isn't a declaration of unconditional love. It's a practical choice about where Britain's future belongs.

🚨 Mark Carney hits the highest approval rating recorded for a Canadian PM as he pivot towards Europe accelerates. But in The Times today Gerard Baker dismisses Carney’s middle-powers alliance and advises @andyburnham to grin and bear Trump bc he claims America is the only game in town. 🤢 His prescription for Britain is: “Stick close to daddy” Canada 🇨🇦 is standing up to Trump’s coercion, reducing its dependence on the US, joining European defence procurement and pursuing the deepest possible economic and security partnership with the EU. Britain 🇬🇧 is being advised to smile, submit and hope Trump’s successor is nicer. Carney has presented international cooperation as an assertion of Canadian sovereignty, not its surrender, and Canadians have rewarded him. Burnham must choose between two models: 🇨🇦 Carney’s confident sovereignty through European and middle-power alliances. 🇬🇧 Baker’s frightened dependency in which Britain remains America’s “largest aircraft carrier”. Burnham must mirror Carney: 1. Tell the country the world has changed. 2. Remove the Brexit red lines. 3. Stand up to Trump. 4. Rebuild Britain’s European relationship. 5. Turn economic security into a national mission. “Sticking close to daddy” is vassalage!

To placate the union bosses, Burnham has dropped support for a political funding cap aimed at curbing mega-donors. A few days ago he made it clear he would stick to Starmer's red lines on the Single Market and Freedom of Movement. Burnham is refusing to make vital reforms to protect our democracy, curb political corruption, boost the economy and restore our freedom. Labour is useless. We need a total clear out of the current political establishment, starting from the centre, not the extremes. When are you going to grow a backbone and start leading @EdwardJDavey? And if you're not willing to do that, then hand over to someone who will. I'm a centrist, and I'm sick of spineless centrist leaders. We need leaders who will defend democracy, shut down political corruption, and bring us back into the EU. theguardian.com/politics/202…

🚨 WE MUST REJOIN THE EU TO MAKE EATING IN BRITAIN SAFER AGAIN. Brexit didn’t just put up trade barriers. It took Great Britain 🇬🇧 out of the EU’s integrated food-safety system and gave successive governments the freedom to deregulate, weaken border controls and open our market to food produced under standards we would not permit here. Now Britain is increasingly reliant on imported food while our own producers are squeezed out. And we are seeing the consequences of treating food regulation as red tape. One person has died and hundreds have been infected in a Salmonella outbreak that UKHSA says may be linked to imported eggs. The FSA says there is no evidence UK-produced eggs are affected. This demonstrates exactly why food standards, traceability, surveillance and effective border controls matter. Food deregulation isn’t freedom. When it goes wrong, people get sick and people can die. Britain needs to get back inside Europe’s food-safety architecture, restore frictionless trade with our largest and safest neighbouring market, and ultimately rejoin the EU. 🇬🇧🇪🇺 Food security includes food safety.
