Moldova isn't NATO or EU. It has 1500 Russian troop "peacekeepers" in a large portion of its eastern territory. It would put heavy pressure on Romania and create a pincher between the FLOT in Ukraine, and "peacekeeping" force in the Transnistria region of Moldova.
