I'm not gonna pretend my thumbnails aren't dramatic. They are. Some of my old ones were a lot more over the top than what I'd do now. But I don't put a storm on a thumbnail that isn't real, and I don't point one somewhere it isn't going. The Last Stand one is a heat map. The video is about LA pushing 100 and Montana breaking records right before the pattern flips. It's not really saying anything. It's a billboard to get somebody to click so they get good information. And that's the whole point for me. Most of the people watching aren't weather people. A lot of them are watching on the TV in their living room. On a big tornado day we've got a huge crowd live while we go through every warning from the Weather Service as it comes out. If a dramatic thumbnail is what gets them there, I'm good with that, as long as what they get when they click is the truth.
